DETOX UNIT RETURNS WITH SCHEMATIC HIS FIRST ORIGINAL EP SINCE 2023'S LIMINAL

THE FOUR-TRACK PROJECT USHERS IN A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE EXPERIMENTAL BASS PRODUCER

Nearly three years after the release of his acclaimed Liminal EP, Detox Unit returns Friday, August 21st with Schematic, a four-track EP marking the beginning of a new creative chapter for one of experimental bass music's most respected artists. Built over several years and introduced through lead single "Detonator," the release reflects Joseph Roberts' deliberate approach to making music - prioritizing craftsmanship and longevity over constant output.

Named after the concept of a blueprint that reduces a system to only its essential components, Schematic embraces that same philosophy throughout its four tracks. Rather than pursuing maximalism, Detox Unit strips each record down to its most impactful ideas, creating music that feels focused, intentional, and built for powerful sound systems. The result is his most refined body of work to date - balancing intricate sound design, rhythmic precision, and unmistakable dancefloor energy without sacrificing the experimental spirit that has defined his catalog.

Opening with the atmospheric tension of "Low Visibility," the EP quickly shifts into the explosive lead single "Detonator," before expanding through the weight and groove of "Big Mood" and closing with the hypnotic precision of "Equidistant." Together, the four records showcase an artist who continues to evolve while remaining unmistakably himself.

Continuing a long-standing tradition with his fan community, Detox Unit will also release a Bandcamp and SoundCloud-exclusive bonus track, his sought-after remix of Ludacris' "The Potion," available only through those platforms as a thank-you to the listeners who have supported him throughout his career.

While Schematic showcases Detox Unit's evolution as a producer, it is equally informed by his philosophy as a DJ. Deeply inspired by old-school DJ culture, Roberts approaches production with performance in mind, creating records designed to be manipulated, reinterpreted, and experienced differently every time they are played. That mindset has helped establish him as one of the most respected technical DJs in bass music, known for building entirely unique sets rather than relying on fixed performances.

The release arrives during one of Detox Unit's busiest touring years to date. Fresh off surprise appearances at Electric Forest—including a packed Good Life Stage performance and a first-ever back-to-back set with Thought Process at Grand Artique—he continues into headline performances at Sound Haven and Nocturnal Valley, a return to Secret Dreams, appearances alongside Of The Trees at Camp Alderwild, and additional festival dates throughout the remainder of 2026.

With Schematic, Detox Unit continues to define his own path - one built on patience, precision, and an unwavering commitment to artistic integrity. Rather than following the pace of today's release economy, the EP reinforces the philosophy that has earned him one of the underground's most devoted audiences: release only when the music is ready.

Joseph Roberts, known as Detox Unit, operates at the intersection of experimental bass music, rave futurism, and sound system culture. Raised on hip-hop, breakbeats, and the early electronic genres that imagined a more optimistic future, his music blends nostalgic rave mechanics with modern bass music through a lens of precision sound design and forward-thinking production.

A consistent presence within Tipper's extended orbit and curated events, Detox Unit has cultivated a dedicated following across the underground through a combination of carefully selected releases, immersive performances, and an uncompromising artistic vision. His catalog—including The Abyss (2016), Deviate (2019), Liminal (2023), and the ongoing Recent Works series—reflects a steady evolution of sound, balancing technical complexity with instinctive dancefloor energy.

Deeply inspired by the culture of old-school DJing, Detox Unit approaches performance as an active craft rather than a playback exercise. His sets emphasize original compositions, real-time decision making, and hands-on interaction with the modern technology-laden DJ booth. Drawing from both legacy hardware and contemporary tools, he seeks to preserve the spirit of early DJ innovation while exploring what those ideas can become in the present day.

Often developed in collaboration with visual artists, his performances combine music, light, and motion into retro-futurist environments that feel equally informed by rave history and speculative futures. The result is party music built from the visions of tomorrow promised by past generations - immersive, dynamic experiences designed not for passive consumption, but full-spectrum engagement.

BATELEUR FESTIVAL CRETE TAKES OVER A FIVE-STAR RESORT WITH OPEN-AIR PARTIES, WELLNESS AND INTERNATIONAL DJS

Dennis Ferrer, Rafael and OMRI.  lead the first artist announcement as the festival takes over an entire luxury resort in Elounda for a weekend of house music, wellness and open-air parties till sunrise.

A new destination festival format arrives in Crete as Bateleur takes over an entire five-star resort in Elounda from October 22 to October 25, 2026 for a 500-capacity house music experience unlike any other. Bringing together international DJs, a full wellness programme and five-star hospitality, Bateleur creates a fully immersive weekend where the resort itself becomes the festival, set against one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful coastlines.

Unlike festivals hosted at hotels or resorts, Bateleur takes over the entire property, creating a private environment exclusively for its guests. Accommodation, music programming, wellness and hospitality are designed as one continuous experience, allowing the weekend to unfold organically from poolside afternoons and private beach sessions to open-air parties that continue through to sunrise.

Music sits at the heart of Bateleur, but the experience extends far beyond the dance floor, with a full wellness programme which includes yoga, sound healing, ice baths, workshops and more, creating a balance between celebration and relaxation throughout the weekend.

Leading the first artist announcement is Dennis Ferrer, the New York house music pioneer whose career has helped define the sound of underground house music across three decades. He is joined by Rafael, whose deep, groove-led sets draw on the classic house sound of Chicago, alongside his recently launched label Cheetah Print. OMRI. brings his own distinctive take on house music, with the artist also behind Collecting Dots, a new label quickly establishing its presence within the scene.

Located in Elounda, the resort is just 45 minutes from Heraklion Airport in one of the most exclusive corners of the Greek island. The town is known for its impossibly clear water, dramatic landscape and some of the finest resort properties in the Mediterranean.

Nearby attractions include the traditional fishing village of Plaka, the submerged ruins of the ancient city of Olous, the secluded Kolokytha Beach and a picturesque harbour lined with seafood tavernas, cafés and bars, with plenty to explore.

Taking place in October after summer crowds have gone, Bateleur promises a new, truly intimate way to experience a music festival like never before.

SUNORA AND KAPIR REUNITE FOR SPELLBINDING NEW CUT ‘GAMI YAMI’

OUT NOW VIA SUNCTURE, THE SINGLE SHOWCASES THE EVOLVING CREATIVE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN SUNORA AND KAPIR THROUGH AN ATMOSPHERIC, GROOVE-DRIVEN HOUSE PRODUCTION.

SUNCTURE continues its prolific run of carefully curated releases with Gami Yami, a new collaboration from label founders Sunora and resident artist Kapir. Following their previous collaboration Sunset to Sunrise, the pair reunite to deliver a richly textured house record that reflects the shared musical vision at the heart of both their artistry and the SUNCTURE imprint.

Built around deep, rolling grooves, intricate percussive elements and immersive melodic layers, Gami Yami captures the balance between emotion and energy that has become central to the label’s identity. Hypnotic polyrhythms, atmospheric synth textures and subtle organic details evolve throughout the track, creating a production that feels both dynamic and primed for the dancefloor.

The release highlights the natural creative chemistry between Sunora and Kapir, with the two artists combining their strengths to create a record that blends melodic sensibility with a deeper, more groove-focused approach. While Sunset to Sunrise explored a more expansive and emotive side of their collaboration, Gami Yami leans into hypnotic repetition, evolving textures and understated energy, further inviting listeners into their immersive sonic world.

Since launching earlier this year, SUNCTURE has quickly developed a distinct identity within the electronic music landscape, championing groove-led, emotionally resonant house music that bridges melodic house, indie dance and contemporary club sounds. Founded by Sunora (the collaborative project of Chertkovski and Alar) the label was created as a platform for music driven by instinct, atmosphere and artistic freedom.

As one of SUNCTURE’s core artists, Kapir continues to play an important role in shaping the label’s evolving sound. Introduced through Sunset to Sunrise, his productions combine classic house influences with contemporary electronic elements, bringing together groove, atmosphere and emotional depth. His collaboration with Sunora has become a natural extension of the creative direction behind SUNCTURE; music that prioritises feeling, connection and timeless appeal.
