After transforming thousands of lives across Australia and New Zealand, Your Shot, the world’s only no-experience-necessary DJ competition and music academy, is making its highly demanded US debut this fall. The program will launch in New York City and Los Angeles, bringing its bespoke combination of training, mentorship, and community to aspiring American DJs.

Launched in 2010 with over 12,500 past participants, Your Shot was built on democratizing DJ culture by empowering young people to step behind the decks regardless of their background, income, or experience. Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves “their shot”, the program reimagines the traditional DJ competition format and provides basic training to complete beginners.  With a strong emphasis on social inclusion, accessibility, and community impact, Your Shot empowers young people of all backgrounds to explore their creativity and connect with a community of like-minded individuals.

“Your Shot is about giving people a platform to challenge themselves, learn the basics, build a community outside their bedrooms, and take their passion for DJing and dance music to the next level. That’s what young Americans are asking for today,  just like young Australians,  and it’s so exciting to finally be able to answer the call.” – Steve Pillemer, Founder and CEO of Your Shot

Following a selection process, 200 participants in each city will receive six weeks of expert-led instruction at The Academy, learning the basics and fundamentals of DJ’ing: everything from mixing and music selection to live performance. After training, contestants showcase their skills at sold-out, festival-style events in front of fans, industry judges, and talent scouts. Throughout the competition, participants are provided with adaptive hands-on learning techniques and develop skills that translate outside the decks, from finding their creative voice to building self-confidence. Your Shot is about nurturing growth rather than fast-tracking talent, emphasizing the technical and emotional foundation needed to pursue a passion. Beyond the competition experience, Your Shot inspires its entrants with a refreshed mindset and newfound courage, motivating them to challenge themselves and foster their own supportive communities.

Your Shot winners earn a coveted DJ slot at one of the world’s top music festivals, with past contestants performing at CRSSD (USA), Hideout (Croatia), BPM (Costa Rica), Snowbombing (Austria),  Snow Machine (Japan), and Awake (Indonesia). Past Your Shot winners have gone on to become globally renowned artists like Tigerlily, Sippy and Go Freek, who are among the program’s success stories and of the 62% of past participants who now perform regular gigs and hold residencies around the world. In partnership with the Australian Government, Your Shot has worked with countless disadvantaged youth by giving them tools and support to develop a new skillset that previously felt unachievable. The program continues to receive support from longstanding partners including JBL Audio, Pioneer, and Red Bull.

This year’s US advisors include visionary producer, instrumentalist, DJ, and FEMME HOUSE co-founder LP Giobbi, Harvey Cohen, President at Live Nation’s Vibee, and management company The Circuit Group (Chris Lake, FISHER). In their roles, they will help shape Your Shot’s upcoming inaugural US edition.

More than prizes, every participant gains confidence, skills, and lifelong connections within a supportive community. Your Shot invites all passionate music lovers to take their shot and step into the spotlight.

Online registration is now open for Your Shot US 2025 and AU/NZ/UK 2026. In person selection will take place at Catch One in Los Angeles on September 13th, and Elsewhere in New York on September 20th.

SLY DOG RUM, FAMOUS WHEN DEAD RECORDS, AND GINGER WINGS ANNOUNCE SOCCER SHIRT WITH CULT BRAND MEYBA

To celebrate a summer of creativity, Sly Dog premium Caribbean Rum, Jack Blumenthal’s iconic fried chicken brand Ginger Wings, UK house DJ CASH ONLY, and his label Famous When Dead Records, announce a new collaborative soccer shirt.

Launching this Friday, 5th September, at the UK’s largest food and music festival tour, Pub in the Park in St Albans, Hertfordshire, the anticipated summer fashion piece is produced by MEYBA, the iconic Spanish sportswear brand famous for outfitting the FC Barcelona Dream Team in the 1980s. Once again, MEYBA has fused high-quality apparel with its rich heritage and modern fashion trends.

Jonathan Jones, Global Head of Marketing at MEYBA, comments:

"At MEYBA, we only team up with the best, and this shirt proves why. It’s football heritage with a kick of nightlife, flavour and attitude – a jersey made to be worn loud, long after the final whistle."

Bringing together the three brands that merged fuel, fire, and frequency over the summer, the shirt celebrates their partnership, which has included collaborations on a cocktail can, the infusion of Sly Dog flavours into dishes curated by Jack Blumenthal on his Ginger Wings menu, and, of course, the partnership’s Wing Raves across the UK at various events.

The shirt will be launched this weekend, on 5th September, at the end-of-summer Pub in the Park event in St Albans, and will be available online from Monday, 8th September, via the official online stores of Sly Dog, Famous When Dead Records, and MEYBA. To further celebrate the collaboration, a final party will be unveiled in the coming weeks at a central London location.

On sale: Monday 8th September, 2025

SUPERCLUB TO STUDENT DIGS: MINISTRY OF SOUND ANNOUNCES HOUSE PARTY TOUR WITH LAB54

THE TOUR WILL SEE THE LONDON CLUB TAKING OVER 6 STUDENT HOUSES ACROSS SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER

This September, Ministry of Sound, in collaboration with pop-up specialists Lab54 and joined by iconic fashion brand Von Dutch, is stepping out of the club and into student living rooms with a first-of-its-kind Fresher’s House Party Tour. For one month, the South London club will swap its renowned dancefloor for kitchens, gardens, and lounges across the UK, bringing the decks, dance music, and three decades of club culture straight to the heart of student nightlife.

Club culture is always shifting; today’s students discover music, connect with artists, and build communities in new ways. This tour is a chance for us to break out of our own four walls and bring that Ministry energy directly to the next generation of ravers. Many of our team and resident DJs started their journeys in student houses just like these, and we know how formative those first parties can be. We want to be part of that story.” - Matt Long, Club Director at Ministry of Sound.

To bring the concept to life, Ministry of Sound is joined by Lab54, the team behind April’s infamous ‘Ministry break-in’ stunt that transformed the girls’ bathroom into an illegal rave. This autumn, they’ll bring the same energy to student houses in Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Leeds and Newcastle, with performances from Ministry artists New Era, Skepsis, Disruptor, with more to be announced.

Lab54 has made a name for itself by throwing the most outrageous parties in anywhere but a club. We have continuously brought people together, especially students, through our pledge to make our parties inclusive to every member of the community. This tour is about tapping into this energy to create nights that are actually remembered for years to come." - Audrey Stiffle, Head of Partnerships.

Joining the party is Von Dutch, the reborn noughties label that recently launched its music-focused fashion sub-brand, Von Dutch Loves. Already making waves as one of the industry’s most exciting new players, the music-meets-fashion arm made its mark this summer with a debut collaboration alongside Brazilian powerhouse Vintage Culture, before going further by giving 20 rising DJs the chance to perform on its own stage at Brunch Electronik Festival, positioning itself as a future scene-shaper.

That spirit of pushing culture forward is shared by Ministry of Sound Records, whose legacy has evolved beyond being a London tastemaker. Its DIY origins are rooted in the rebellious heart of dance music, its club has hosted dancers from all over the world for over three decades, and its label continues to shape the sounds of today, having nurtured some of music’s most notable names, including Eric Prydz, London Grammar, Eats Everything, Duck Sauce and Dom Dolla.

This tour signals the next step for Ministry, bringing its sound beyond the club and into the homes of a new generation of ravers.
