DAVID CASTELLANI DELIVERS EXCEPTIONAL SOPHOMORE EP 'SOLARIS' INCLUDING REMIX FROM FRENCH VIRTUOSO VOISKI

OUT NOW ON BEATPORT AND SPOTIFY

Modular synthesist & Producer David Castellani drops “Solaris EP” on his new label Noetic, featuring two original tracks and a remix from French virtuoso Voiski.

LA based by way of his native Italian home, David Castellani is quickly establishing his place in today’s techno scene. “Solaris EP” is the next instalment from David’s newly launched Noetic imprint following “Alpha Gamma EP” in July which picked up support from the likes of Truncate, Tobi Neumann & BEC. With productions driven by analog hardware and rooted in the sound of peak-time rollers, “Solaris EP” further showcases the skills and style of Castellani, with a producer at the forefront of French techno on remix duties, Voiski.

Launching the EP is title track “Solaris”, an intensive builder with heavy pads that gradually amplify, justifying its place as the explosive record opener. A progressive acid hook overlaps and intertwines within itself, with generous helpings of reverb and delay that give the melody a hypnotic element. A slightly reserved kick drum builds with the track and results in a vigorous roller, while still maintaining a determined and furious energy.

Next up, “Solaris” gets the remix treatment from Frenchman Voiski. His rendition manipulates the original into a heavier, more dubbed out version. With endlessly deep kick drums and a more percussive lead, the remix is a less obvious DJ tool in classic Voiski fashion, retaining some key elements from the original. The sharp, venomous bite from the acid line becomes sunken and more robust. A flurry of cymbals and hi-hats cut through the baseline before being dragged back into submission. The 303 dances with a celestial synth line, bringing light to a base heavy rework.

“Induction Coil” is armed with a hypnotic, pulsating kick and light, airy percussion. Running at breakneck speed, this cut is a stark contrast to the two previous tracks, but a welcomed jump in tempo. Rapid cymbals crash, flying from ear to ear creating a racing, hectic atmosphere. Acid twinged elements are introduced before intensifying and dominating the track. At the final breakdown the acid line is pushed to the forefront, commanding attention, before submerging back under the insistent kick.

Solaris EP is exclusively available on Beatport & Spotify Sept. 3rd, followed by all other digital outlets on Sept. 17th.

KASZTAN SERVES CINEMATIC MASTERY ON DEBUT EP 'RARE EARTH ELEMENTS' AVAILABLE IN DOLBY ATMOS

Pierre-Marie Maulini has served as one of the most authentic and intriguing producers on the dance music circuit in recent years under his STAL moniker, working alongside some of the most influential figures in the pop, dance and cinematic music spaces. Having teased a new sound profile in Kasztan last month with ‘Number Thirteen’, the French musician now continues his efforts in the post-rock/techno realm with his debut extended-player contribution to the scene. Presented in Dolby Atmos on both TIDAL and Apple Music, for a fully immersive sonic experience, the ‘Rare Earth ElementsEP is available now across all streaming platforms.

The 3-tracker begins with ‘Untamed’, a measured cinematic masterpiece that spotlights Kasztan’s flair for dreamy soundscapes and inspiring melodic narratives. Building across its 5-minute run-time with emotive anticipation, the cut reaches its final rapturous apex in the final quarter, with a flurry of intricate synth elements and pitch-bending risers. Moving into the July-released ‘Number Thirteen’, Kasztan displays brightly optimistic synth work that proves both exhilarating and reassuring at the same time. Through its soft percussive offerings and eclectic rhythms, the track provokes a surge of introspection for the listener; a true journey experience.

The EP’s final composition takes the form of ‘Eardeemer’; a more obvious nod to his post-rock sensibilities. The track opens with an airy soundscape and endless space, which breeds a low temperate bassline. Kasztan expands further on the organic wooden percussive elements from his second cut before erupting into an unbridled wave of euphoria, paying homage to his post-rock roots. Not only do these lockdown creations give us an insight into Kasztan’s wealth of theoretical knowledge and experience as a producer, but also embody that of a man with endless creative scope and dedication to his craft.

ABOUT KASZTAN -- Born and raised in the city of Nice, Pierre-Marie Maulini launched his first post-rock band 'A Red Season Shade' with his brother in his early teens. Releasing two successful albums, the pair caught the attention of fellow French musician Anthony Gonzalez (M83), and subsequently, Pierre spent the next two years travelling the world for the "Saturdays = Youth" tour.

In 2012, he signed his debut album under his STAL moniker with Arista/Sony Music. In parallel with his production output on the project, Pierre-Marie started writing bespoke music for commercials, signing the soundtrack for a documentary before going on to win an award for his work on an animated short film. This was followed by a string of high-profile remixes for the likes of Sia, Tinashe and Years and Years, as well as collaborative efforts with London singer VV Brown.

More recently during lockdowns, Pierre-Marie found himself back in France from LA, and exploring a more techno-oriented production profile in Kasztan, where he champions distinct cinematic qualities whilst staying true to his post-rock roots.
