“I wrote Take Your Light to be a voice of encouragement for my fans, and myself. So often when we go through loss, or hard things in life, we are told “don’t cry, just keep going”, but in truth it’s good for us to cry. It’s been scientifically proven that letting out our tears releases cortisol, and the act of crying itself may also trigger a decrease in cortisol production and other stress-related hormones and substances in the body. The most important thing is you don’t let that sadness take you out. It’s good to feel the pain, feel the fear, fail the test, and then get up and move through it armed with new revelations and lessons. The hardest things I have been through in my own life, I made it through by telling myself, “the fastest way out is THROUGH”. Sometimes we have to dive deep into the pain to understand what it’s telling us, but we must never let it extinguish the light we were born to bring to this earth.
Working with Jack (Nurko) on this one was total synergy. After our first collaboration, “Retraced” came out in July, we loved working together so much that it was seamless to just make another one together. New York-based Jack Leech, known as Nurko, was born to be an artist. Coming from a family of musicians, he picked up drums and piano early on, blending classical knowledge with a passion for electronic music subgenres. Nurko burst onto the scene with his distinctive melodic bass and airy lead. Early singles like “Goodbye” and “Your Embrace” gained attention from YouTube curators such as Chill Nation and MrSuicideSheep in 2015. He amassed millions of streams with hits like “Let Me Go” and “Sunsets” before his high-profile remix of Halsey’s “Without Me” earned over 50 million streams on YouTube in 2018. In 2019, Nurko partnered with Proximity on “Breathe Without”. Since then, Nurko has collaborated with and remixed top artists like Gryffin, Seven Lions, Said The Sky, JVKE, Adventure Club, and Dabin. His collaboration with ILLENIUM and Valerie Broussard, “Sideways”, debuted in Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic chart top 10 and
