INTRODUCING MUDI: ITALY’S FIRST DISCO MUSEUM INSIDE THE LEGENDARY COCORICÒ PYRAMID

OPENING 19 MAY 2024

COCORICÒ, RICCIONE

Italy’s first disco museum MUDI (Museo Discoteca) is set to open its doors later this month, hosted by legendary club Cocoricò in Riccione.  Nestled within the iconic Pyramid structure, the electronic music mecca will make the perfect backdrop as pulsating beats and modern art combine, with performers, artists, designers and perfumers are brought together under one roof for an experience like no other.

The temple of the night, Cocoricò, will become a nocturnal sanctuary where art isn't merely displayed—it erupts in a fervent, unpredictable, and irreverent manner. Featuring a collection of bold, edgy, and contemporary artworks, MUDI will transform every night into a cultural odyssey that stimulates both the mind and the senses.

THE INAUGURATION

MUDI’s inaugural celebration will be a feast for the senses, with a party that promises an explosive mix of music and art with performances set to defy convention. Taking place from 6pm on Sunday 19th May, entry is free and the following events will unfold during the course of the evening.

First up, Multi-talented artist, musician, perfumer and designer Filippo Sorcinelli will unleash the senses in Ciao Sex – the Pyramid’s legendary fluid bathroom – with what is guaranteed to be an unexpected sensory performance, as well as an exciting collaboration that is still being kept firmly under wraps.

Accompanying Sorcinelli will be the Salò collective directly from the capital's underground, complete with a sound horizon of psychedelia, noise, avant rock, and a distinct taste for performance.

Adding yet more layers of intrigue and exploration, Italy’s leading premium erotic brand and online sex educator MySecretCase has built an online community into the millions and they will bring to Titilla a cocktail of sexual education and live entertainment.

Celebrating the cultural impact and influence of Cocoricò and its heritage, La Furia Film and Sunset Productions will bring the ‘Cocoricò Tapes’ home to the T-Room. A documentary by Francesco Tavella, produced with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region through the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission, ‘Cocoricò Tapes’ tells of the vibrant history of the venue during the times of Loris Riccardi.

At 7pm the corridor towards the Pyramid will come alive with an explosion of creativity from Sara Leghissa with her renowned live poster art.

The Collettivo Colore, which is already responsible for animating the evenings of the ‘Cocco’, will transform a secret room into a slice of the venue’s life – an idea from Alessandro Arcangioloni (Sky) and Mike Pagliarulo

As the night draws to a close, the grand finale ‘Bring it to the Runway’ will be held inside the Pyramid, featuring a performance that expresses the energy and talent of the Italian ballroom scene. Under the artistic direction of La B. Fujiko, the spectacle will include an incredible combination of voguing, runway, and lip-sync challenges, celebrating freedom of expression and self-determination.

THE PERMANENT ART EXHIBITION

MUDI will showcase the works of prominent Italian artists carefully curated to highlight Italy's rich artistic landscape. With 29 captivating works by artists such as Abraxass, Collettivo Cesura (Luca Santese, Marco Paolo Valli), David Pompili, Fabio Weik, Filippo Sorcinelli, Isabella Nardon, Jacopo Noera, Ka$ap Rocky, Laura Tura, Nic Paranoia, Riffblast, Rocco Trussoni, Sara Leghissa, Sara Scanderebech, and Unfollow visitors will find themselves immersed in a dynamic visual experience. Some artworks will be available for purchase, with proceeds reinvested to commission new pieces, ensuring a continuous evolution of artistic offerings. Fans can join for an unforgettable opening evening and revisit MUDI regularly to discover new artistic wonders that redefine Cocoricò as a nexus of art and entertainment. Entry is for adults only, registration is free via cocorico.it.

Beyond the Inauguration
MUDI isn’t merely an event—it's an ongoing experience that will live on every evening of Cocoricò’s opening. Their goal is to indissolubly fuse music and visual art, ensuring that even the most distracted visitor can be captured and stimulated by these unrequested but inevitably memorable artistic encounters.

MUDI is a project born from Cocoricò's advertising agency, Unfollow Advertising, conceived from an idea by creative director Mike Pagliarulo who has handled the entire curation. With artistic direction by Alessandro Leoni, the collaboration was made possible with the support of the entire Cocoricò staff.

MUDI: THE DIGITAL MUSEUM

The Next Frontier
Thanks to support from the Emilia-Romagna grant for digital business transitions, MUDI will soon launch its digital alter ego—a virtual museum experience. This "metaverse" aims to transcend boundaries, allowing Italian artists to exhibit digital works while users connect virtually, sharing art and emotions. Their goal is to democratize access to culture and art, breaking down barriers and fostering a global community of art enthusiasts.
