“‘KOKO’ represents our reinterpretation of a sound rooted in our street hip hop past. It’s a monster—dark, minimal, tech, but still emotional. The lyrics speak about the comfort zone of being in one’s own ‘koko’ (cocoon), while the music constantly challenges that safety.”
The release continues Mathame's seismic year, which includes the aforementioned ‘Love Somebody’ and a monumental collaboration with Tiësto on ‘Everlight’. Their studio innovation is matched by a tour schedule that balances quality with quantity, as September alone sees the duo headline London’s iconic Drumsheds (Sept 26), followed by back-to-back French showcases at the historic Château de Fontainebleau in Paris (Sept 27) and Le Sucre in Lyon (Sept 28).
