DISCOVERY PROJECT WINNER SPORTMODE RELEASES UK GARAGE TUNE "TAKE ME" UNDER INSOMNIAC'S IMPRINT

The Portland-based producer delivers his new UKG-infused single, as the winning submission from the Discovery Project competition at Beyond Wonderland SoCal.

Portland-based producer SPORTMODE is an emerging bass act that has been accelerating down a myriad of genres including hardwave, trap, bass house, phonk, dubstep and more. He’s making his debut on Insomniac’s Discovery Project imprint with his new single.

“TAKE ME” finds him shifting gears into UK garage territory, with a chunky bassline tune that maneuvers through classic rave stabs, swinging drums, ricocheting synths, sharp laser fills, siren ripples and an infectious vocal hook.

SPORTMODE dove into the creative process behind the track, saying “‘TAKE ME’ was a really fun tune to make. I’ve been really into UKG / house lately and wanted to make something groovy while drawing inspiration from these genres. I started this tune by chopping up some vocal loops and laying down some swingy drums over them. Then, I recorded some bass jams and started mixing and matching until I ended up with the final product!”

The track was the winning submission for the Discovery Project DJ/producer competition hosted at Beyond Wonderland SoCal, handpicked by guest judge Crankdat. It earned him a performance at the festival, as well as this release on the label. His music has been supported by Excision, Liquid Stranger, and Lucii.
