Florida-based producer itsCHRISJOHNSON has revealed his debut Monster EP, out now via his own label Social Sound Club. Monster speaks to itsCHRISJOHNSON’s creative sound philosophy, trademarking his seat in the dance community with five tracks inspired by his eclectic love of jazz, hip-hop, pop, and electronic music, and deeply rooted in his ultimate passion for making people feel good through his art.

“The EP in its entirety was made, mixed, and mastered by me on a 2013 MacBook. Originally embarrassing, it became part of the story in that you do not need a professional studio or engineer to make radio quality music.” — itsCHRISJOHNSON

Monster takes off with “Wild Love,” opening in a classical piano chord arrangement that elevates listeners into a dance of sensual 808s and Andean-inspired flute progressions. “Wild Love” follows with the EP’s lead single “All Over.” “All Over” is a four-on-the-floor dancefloor turner, first introducing Monster to us earlier this spring with atmospheric synths, pop-driven vocal samples, and a percussive bedrock.

Monster apexes with the infectiously poppy “Thief In The Night,” a groovy feel-good tune with an instrumental jazz flair. The track’s melodic blend of the saxophone, keys, and R&B-inspired vocal makes for a soulful soundscape from beginning to end.

The now uninterrupted upbeat tempo continues with progressive basslines and exotic house music synths in “Cold Nights'' before culminating in the closing track, “Monster.” The title track takes a comforting bow to close out the EP, with lyrics “I’ll be there for you” in hands with soothing sax notes to assure us that this is just the beginning of itsCHRISJOHNSON’s rise to hype.
