After performing at Space Yacht parties across the world for years, singer-songwriter-producer Ekonovah joins the collective’s record label with his Floating EP.
Ekonovah hails from Phoenix, Arizona and finds himself on one simple mission: to influence the electronic music scene with a new sound. The 23-year-old musician’s productions have been supported by heavy-hitters like Porter Robinson and Tchami, who both recognize his emphasis on musical integrity, danceable grooves, and a refreshing departure from the mainstream electronic sound.
Ekonovah’s three-track EP kicks off with the title track “Floating,” a melodic house 4/4 beat guided by ethereal, breathy vocals that float listeners into a chorus of rhythmic beats. “Floating” was inspired by a transitional period in Ekonovah's songwriting that shifted during quarantine; instead of making heavy bass music for the club, the producer focused on more personal and melodic sounds.
As the EP progresses into “All Around Me,” listeners glide into a soft synth intro that intersects with a rising drum pattern before collapsing into a series of bouncing synth bass tones and hypnotizing vocals.
The closing track “Not So Subtle” caps off the EP with a darker tone, kicking off with a foreshadowing vocal whisper before immediately diving into a steady hi-hat wrapped in bouncy bass riffs.
