for Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks imprint
Bostononian acts Devon James and Warung have teamed up to deliver Madness, a two-track EP out today via Waze & Odyssey’s label W&O Street Tracks. The perfect soundtrack for both livestream dance parties, and quiet, reflective moments alike, Madness is a funk-fueled package blistering with progressive grooves and seductive percussion.
The title track “Madness” is a sleek and purposeful melodic house cut, mottled with a soul inducing male vocal refrain, that exudes pure positive vibes in every bar as the track unfurls.
The EP’s upbeat B-side “Lucidity” kicks off with a strict and steady rhythm and hypnotizing bassline before dropping into a jungle of percussive beats.
Both acts are familiar names for the W&O Street Tracks family; Warung unveiled their two original EPs Reverence and Pensive via the label in 2019, while Devon James debuted on the imprint last year with his flirty, tribal single “People Are Still Having Sex.”
Devon James has racked up some notable releases in the past for Gene Farris’s Farris Wheel Recordings, Country Club Disco and Staybad, whilst Warung have brought their melodic and progressive sounds to labels like KBD, Dear Deer and Earthly Delights.
With fans stuck at home bumping club tracks in the calm of their living rooms, Madness expertly encapsulates the duality of the quarantine listening experience.
