BEC DELIVERS STUNNING REMIX EP FOR THE COURSE'S ICONIC SINGLE 'READY OR NOT'

Brighton-born BEC stands as one of the most exciting UK components on the current techno circuit, championing a strong female perspective with unbounded creativity and scope. Entering the next phase of her meteoric rise, BEC takes on The Course’s debut 1997 single ‘Ready Or Not’, which sampled the truly iconic 1996 original by the Fugees. Delivering two stylish interpretations in the form of a ‘High Vibration’ and ‘Rave’ remix, BEC provides a fresh listening experience for the modern audience -- out now via the original Dutch label Altra Moda Music.

Dubbed a ‘Rave Remix’, the first is a raw and rave-edged Techno cut with an outstanding piano stab present during and after the first drop. The high-impact hats and heavy kicks deliver unrelenting propulsion, allowing a free melodic space for the iconic bass riff to ring out. The second edit has many influences from the UK Jungle and Breakbeat spectrums. BEC uses the vocal sample for almost the entire duration of the remix with the help of filters to blend it to the fullest, in addition to her acid-breeding synthwork; a nod to her rooted techno sound palette. The tracks differ radically but are tied together with a sense of embedded excitement within their polyrhythmic drum patterns and dynamic arrangement.

ABOUT BEC -- Announcing her arrival on the circuit just 6 years ago, BEC has already proven herself to be a rich contributor to techno’s vibrant culture, courtesy of her all-too-recognisable heady and hypnotic productions. Possessing a certified mastery for euphoric techno anthems, BEC’s early releases were chartered via some of the circuit’s top-charting imprints, such as Drumcode, Second State and Intec, to name a few. Although she remains a staple name within these world-renowned channels, 2020 saw a shift in focus for the Berlin-based talent, as she sought free expression in the pursuit of originality, subsequently launching her own eponymous label toward the beginning of the year. Having already worked with industry giants Roland and Novation on demos and product videos, BEC added Mercedes to her list of accolades at the end of last year, both producing the soundtrack for and starring in their techno-inspired advert for the new Mercedes-Benz CLA.

MARK REEVE RELEASES EIGHT-TRACK MINI ALBUM ‘BREATHE’ ON DRUMCODE RECORDS

Breathe – the stunning eight-track mini album from long-standing British techno artist Mark Reeve – is out now via Adam Beyer’s iconic Drumcode Records.

Following a slew of critically acclaimed single and EP releases on Drumcode over the course of his esteemed decade-long career – the last of which came in the form of his mammoth Distance EP back in February 2020 – Breathe marks Mark Reeve’s most extensive musical opus on the legendary Stockholm-based imprint, and goes a long way in showcasing the inexhaustible creativity of one of the most prolific and original artists in techno today.

A career-defining moment for Reeve, Breathe has extraordinary allure and maintains the impressive quality of engaging the listener from the very start. A rich and complex body of work, the stunning eight-tracker goes far beyond Mark’s trademark transcendental crowd pleasers, encompassing lilting moments of euphoric ambience alongside a sundry offering of full-throttle warehouse juggernauts and ravey breakbeat cuts.

From the ethereal offerings of Ebullience and Silent Whisper through to some trippy mind-expanding excursions into techno’s netherworld via Irregular Choice and Take You Back and the silky laser-kissed Theme, this is a true masterclass from Reeve, who explores a multitude of sonic palates across the extended package. The title track, however, will be the jewel in the crown for many; heavy on atmosphere and low-end punch, it highlights an inspiring return to Drumcode’s fold from the Frankfurt-based artist, and an emphatic stake in the ground from the ever-industrious Reeve.

Talking about the concept behind the release, Mark commented
“After lots of studio time, I decided to change my daily routine and begin by walking in the woods. Being in nature and soaking up all the sounds of the forest was simply incredible and very inspiring. Lots of people have been suffering not being able to breathe, so that’s what inspired this project; the sound of nature and learning to relax. PURIFIED RECORDS UNVEILS 4-TRACK VA COMPILATION PURIFIED FRAGMENTS IV

Inviting listeners into a sonic escape across the Purified spectrum, Purified Records delivers its fourth instalment of their VA Compilation series, Purified Fragments. Diving into a diverse and immersive soundscape across the 4-track offering, Purified Fragments IV is out now.

Easing into an uplifting soundscape, Montreal-based producer Joseph Crime’s ‘Dear Friends’ blooms with gentle piano melodies and samples, pushed along by subtle bassline. Moving into a poignant sonic environment, Russian producer Andrey Kadyshevsky’s timeless creation ’The Deep Orchestra’ blends cinematic strings, dramatic percussion and a deep house bassline. Moving into ’Universe’, Alex Blond teases the listener with staccato synths, before constructing a mesmerising instrumental arrangement across a space like atmosphere. Closing the EP with a club-ready cut, London-based duo Lost Focus increase the energy levels with ‘Prelude’. Calling upon floor filling synth stabs and a driving bassline, the vocal serves as a guiding light, which captivates the listener throughout its entirety.

Established in late 2019, Purified Records has rapidly become one of the most prolific electronic music imprints, providing a steady stream of melodic gems and club-ready cuts to the world.
