îLESONIQ’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY DRAWS RECORD ATTENDANCE ON SATURDAY 

The 10th anniversary edition of îLESONIQ, presented by Virgin Plus in collaboration with Beach Day, turned Parc Jean-Drapeau into a celebration of electronic music, drawing 76,000 festivalgoers (30% from outside of Quebec) over two sun-soaked days. The energy of îLESONIQ pulsed through the city starting Friday night, as îLESONIQ in the City transformed downtown venues into dance-filled havens for EDM lovers. This milestone year reached new heights on Saturday, when 43,000 fans filled the grounds: the largest single-day attendance in the festival’s history.

On Saturday, fans showed up in full force, dancing and celebrating from start to finish without missing a beat — and how could they? With 320 speakers, 124 subwoofers, 18 delay towers, 20 lasers, 32 cryo jet CO₂ blasters, 6 bubble machines, and 32 flame generators, every drop, blast, and bassline was felt to the core! Pauza, the elegant duo from Havana, captivated the crowd at the Coca-Cola NEON stage with a seamless blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms, Latin flair, and beach house grooves. Then, Genesi took over with groovy, deeper house beats that had fans moving from the very first track. Quebec's Dave Summer was a huge hit in the afternoon slot at the Virgin Plus OASIS stage! GorillaT made his highly anticipated Montréal debut to a massive crowd, while BUNT. kept the summer vibe alive with his uplifting melodies on the Beach Day MIRAGE stage. Montreal’s iconic Black Tiger Sex Machine ignited the stage with an immersive performance before a sea of fans, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.

The evening saw Steve Aoki make his first-ever îLESONIQ appearance, thrilling fans with his high-energy set and signature cake-throwing antics! The night reached its pinnacle when John Summit lit up Parc Jean-Drapeau, delivering an electrifying set that became an unforgettable highlight for all in attendance: a defining moment that will forever stand among the most iconic in îLESONIQ’s 10-year history.

The final day of îLESONIQ’s 10th anniversary brought a vibrant mix of sound, style, and pure summer energy! Festivalgoers didn’t disappoint, bringing their creativity once again to their matching, thematic outfits, making their way through the trees from stage to stage, chasing the next wave of beats, despite the sweltering summer heat! Layton Giordani transformed the Coca-Cola NEON stage into summertime's best outdoor club, while over at the Virgin Plus OASIS stage, Alesso captivated fans and Oliver Heldens delivered a masterclass in festival-ready house. SNAILS, a pillar of the festival and a proud Quebecois talent, once again left his mark with a hard-hitting set made for headbangers, riling up the crowd and electrifying the atmosphere at the Beach Day MIRAGE stage.

Max Styler brought fresh, high-energy selections, and fans were treated to something special when Montreal favourite Mau P danced joyfully behind his decks. Drum & bass veterans Chase & Status rallied all the generations by bringing the old school vibes to the Beach Day MIRAGE stage, sending UK bass heads into a frenzy. Classic sounds resonated across the festival, finding new life with a whole new generation of music lovers. As the sun set, Sofi Tukker closed the same stage with banging beats, flawless choreography, voluptuous vocals, gushing “this is one of our favourite places to play!" Closing out the weekend, Illenium delivered an emotional, high-impact finale on the Virgin Plus OASIS stage, ending îLESONIQ’s milestone edition on an unforgettable high.

Italian duo Mathame landed on the Ibizan sands this Friday, debuting their groundbreaking NEO residency at the iconic Amnesia Ibiza as part of a marquee 4-week stint. The highly anticipated series sees Mathame unveil the latest iteration of their live show centered around a striking simulacrum—a statue symbolizing the AI deity of rebels, underdogs, outsiders, pirates, and all those who refuse to be categorized. Throughout August, fans on The White Isle will see Mathame redefine the standards for immersive nightlife experiences, with sound itself taking center stage to create a powerful atmosphere reminiscent of a dystopian club from the future.

The opening night of Mathame’s NEO residency was nothing short of revolutionary: a full sensory immersion into the duo’s captivating new sonic universe. This innovative, genre-defying sound marks the culmination of two years of meticulous sonic exploration, presenting audiences with music never heard before, melodically potent, emotionally rich, and impossible to define by existing conventions. Together, the show dials in a striking new musical aesthetic coined by some as emo-tech.
In March of this year, Mathame set the internet ablaze with their entirely AI-generated NEO trailer. The concept video captivated global audiences, firmly establishing a compelling narrative and anticipation for this historic summer residency.

On Friday night, the anticipation translated into a stunning reality, transforming Amnesia into a futuristic realm. The duo’s live sets drew listeners deeper into their visionary approach, balancing dreamlike cyberpunk aesthetics with a profoundly human emotional resonance. The set, constructed around original productions, daring remixes, and highly anticipated IDs, demonstrated the duo’s bold commitment to innovation. Support from Don Diablo and a back-to-back set from Afshin Momadi and Lyke completed the night, reaffirming Amnesia Ibiza as the epicenter of musical innovation on Ibiza this summer.

Excitement continues to mount as Mathame returns next Friday for an exclusive back-to-back with house visionary GORDO. The residency gains further momentum on August 22 with techno innovator Dubfire and BBC Radio 1 favorite Mistajam joining the lineup, before the series reaches its climax on August 29 with a curtain-call showcase featuring an exclusive back-to-back from Parisi and okgiorgio.

With the Jean-Drapeau métro station on line 4 – Yellow located near the festival, the métro is the best means of transportation to get to îLESONIQ.

The festival is also proud to highlight the presence of GRIP Montreal again this year, a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce the consequences associated with the use of psychoactive substances and to prevent their problematic use on the festival site.

ACCESSIBILITY ON SITE
Since the 2024 edition, the îLESONIQ festival site has been certified by Kéroul as fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. In addition to dedicated areas in front of each stage, other initiatives have been implemented, including lowered counters, adapted tables, and specific equipment (signage, information kiosk, accessible restrooms, etc.), to ensure an unforgettable experience for everyone!

Near the front of the Virgin Plus OASIS stage, you'll find: Loumi, El Gordo, Sandwicherie Sue, Ca Lem, and Pan American Pizza. Near the back of the site at the Virgin Plus OASIS stage, explore: Chom Chom, Athéna, Nouveau Standard, pizza, and poutine.

You’ll also find a host of on-site bars offering a variety of beers, ready-to-drink and signature cocktails, and many non-alcoholic options!

SUBSTAINABILITY
Through its sustainable development initiatives, îLESONIQ minimizes its impact on the environment and maximizes its positive influence on society and the local economy, showing it is indeed possible to welcome thousands of festivalgoers to Parc Jean-Drapeau and reduce the festival’s environmental footprint.

• Brita filtered water stations for festivalgoers to refill their reusable bottles. Several water fountains are also available in Parc Jean-Drapeau;

• Ban on single-use plastic containers, cups, utensils, and straws;

• Use of compostable and/or recyclable tableware in food kiosks;

• Incentives, via the festival’s website, mobile app and social media posts, to use active and/or collective transportation to come to Parc Jean-Drapeau;

• The Green Brigade will be present at îLESONIQ to raise awareness and will be on-hand to help inform festivalgoers about sorting compost and recycling on site.

LOTO 50/50 EVENKO FOUNDATION

îLESONIQ is proud to promote access to music. For every ticket sold, $1 will be donated to the evenko foundation. The evenko foundation will also be on-site at the festival for the third  edition of its 50/50 raffle. All funds raised will help provide musical instruments to Quebec schools in need. Participate in the 50/50 raffle to support a good cause and get a chance to win the grand prize, which will be drawn on August 19!
