PONI MAKES LABEL DEBUT WITH HELLSCAPE EP

Rising female dark electronic artist Poni has released her new Hellscape EP out now via HypnoVizion.

For her label debut, Poni has offered a conceptual project in the form of three tantalizing midtempo bass originals. Unraveling with haunting melodies and gothic lyricism, Hellscape is gritty yet alluring as Poni explores themes of torment and despair. Female-led, the EP features twin sister duo Satin Puppets ('Leeches') and Nashville singer-songwriter Notelle ('Leave You In The Dark') along with Poni's own vocals on ‘Conceptual Reality’.

Heartbreak and being in a toxic relationship with a narcissist, ultimately leaving them to ruin their own lives. Despair and how lost and brainwashed society is. All of which are tied together by the sinister workings of Apep, the demon of darkness and destruction (my reimagination). Is there really no hope though? That’s up for interpretation.” – Poni

After making waves with releases on RL Grime's Sable Valley, Kayzo’s Welcome Records, and PhaseOne's Sounds Of Mayhem, Poni is stepping into the spotlight with her second EP and first on HypnoVizion. Born in Vancouver and now based in Denver, Poni is the latest female bass act to land on Rezz’s imprint, following releases by NotLö,  TINYKVT, and fknsyd earlier this year. Poni will join Rezz in Dallas on December 7 as part of the HypnoVizion labelhead’s two-night headline takeover at SILO.

This music Friday brings one of the most exciting collaborations of the year as French hard-techno DJ Malaa teams up with R&B legend Jeremih on their new track ‘All In’. In this unlikely blend of genres, Malaa’s talent for pushing the boundaries of music shines through, as his traditionally heavier electronic production manages to blend seamlessly with Jeremih’s iconic vocals. This release brings an element of production that will appeal to both Malaa’s OG fan base as well as wide-ranging audiences of R&B, house, and pop - with a synthy intro that builds to a hard-hitting electronic drop, all layered amongst a melodic string of vocals. This drop stands as a fresh new chapter amid the masked DJ’s ongoing string of back-to-back releases with his Alter Ego, bringing a new landmark of genre-defying innovation to his discography.

After a massive year for the Parisian-born artist, which included career-defining sets at Coachella and the release of 14 hit singles from Tchami’s Confession Records, this collaboration with the ‘Birthday Sex’ singer marks yet another career milestone within a jam-packed year of achievements. After connecting over the past year and discovering their unexpected musical synergy, the two have been able to deliver a masterful work with ‘All In’ - in which each of their respective musical influences provides a tasteful balance to the other. Jeremih rose to prominence in 2009 with his breakout hit, ‘Birthday Sex’. From that moment, his soulful voice and undeniable charisma captured audiences worldwide. What started as a chart-topping debut quickly evolved into an impressive career filled with gold and platinum-certified hits. Over the years, Jeremih has seamlessly collaborated with a wide range of artists across pop, rap, and electronic music. Malaa, a DJ and producer, burst onto the scene in 2015, captivating audiences with his enigmatic persona concealed behind a balaclava. Playing off his anonymity, he established himself by releasing music on Tchami's Confession label, starting with his debut EP, Illicit, in 2016. This was followed by his immensely popular single, Notorious, and since then, Malaa has shown no signs of slowing down.

In addition to maintaining a steady flow of releases, Malaa has curated remarkable mixtapes under the title Illegal Mixtape and collaborated with Tchami for the highly acclaimed project, No Redemption. Known for his skillful remixes, Malaa has taken on notable tracks like In the End (2023) by Linkin Park.

DUTCH PRODUCER HUMINAL DEBUTS ON PURIFIED RECORDS WITH LUCID EP

With an impressive discography that spans some of the planet’s most in-demand imprints, including This Never Happened, Einmusika and ZeroThree, Dutch producer Huminal debuts on Purified Records with his most requested body of work to-date, his two-track Lucid EP.  

Crafting a majestic soundscape, the title track blends melodic, soaring synths with elements of trance and deep house to achieve a radiant, hybrid composition. In Flow, Huminal devises a dreamy arrangement, weaving undulating synth patterns, rhythmic percussion, and delicate keys. Exploring two powerful states of mind: Lucid embodies the sensation of sudden clarity—the moment when everything snaps into focus, and you see the world with sharpness and purpose. The Lucid EP artwork hosts a photograph of corals, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Corals are essential marine invertebrates that form the backbone of coral reefs, supporting biodiversity by offering habitat and protection to marine species. They rely on a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic algae called zooxanthellae, which provide the energy necessary for coral growth and calcification. However, in Australia, the Crown of Thorns Starfish (Acanthaster planci) is causing severe damage to coral reefs by preying on the coral polyps, leading to widespread coral decline. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (@gbrmarinepark) is actively addressing this threat through science-based strategies, such as targeted starfish culling and coral restoration initiatives, to preserve reef health and resilience.
