SLIPPY, REBEL SCUM, AND MEDYK UNITE ON MOODY, EMOTION-STIRRING DRUM & BASS BANGER "DONT' GO" ON NIGHTMODE

California-based producer Slippy has been staying true to his name with an impossible-to-pin-down sound that moves between trap, dubstep, drum & bass, and beyond. Rebel Scum is a Seattle-based producer who is quickly becoming one of the frontrunners in the North American drum & bass scene. The pair are joining forces alongside anonymous singer/songwriter MEDYK for a stunning, emotion-fueled DnB ripper. “Don’t Go” arrives on NIGHTMODE and builds off the success of Slippy’s previous releases ‘Nobody / White Noise,’ ‘Lone / Feel Alive,’ and his “Youth” collaboration alongside Ghost In Real Life on the label—while serving as Rebel Scum’s debut appearance on the burgeoning label. It’s the latest offering from NIGHTMODE’s 14th season of releases.

“Don’t Go” is a truly evocative drum & bass anthem that brings out the best from the trifecta of talents. Haunting vocals lead the track, setting the tone with ghostly beauty that’s punched up by the energetic drums, giving listeners a hint of what to expect. As the drums are stripped away MEDYK’s raw emotion takes center stage, delivering a captivating pull that drifts between sultry and a distinct sense of yearning. A moody string build intensifies the impact before it bursts wide open into an eruption of rugged synth riffs, ballistic sub-bass call-and-response, and intricate percussive drive. Just when it appears as though the first drop maxed out the peak energy, the producers manage to ratchet it off the charts in the back half with a hard dance-inspired assault of rapid kicks and blistering bass. Moving between an expressive ballad and floor-filling drum & bass weapon, the trio of artists find an astonishing equilibrium.

“‘Don’t Go’ is yet another entry into my ‘emotional songs that still rip’ collection, capturing both Rebel Scum and my sound into one banger.”–Slippy

“Slippy created the initial track and after hearing it for the first time it felt like the perfect time for us to finally team up. This was one where I finished my end in a day or two because it was easy to connect with what he had already done. I think that comes through in the cohesiveness of our different parts throughout the track and we're so stoked to get it out into the world.” – Rebel Scum

Alex Swartwout –better known by his stage name Slippy– is an EDM producer and DJ hailing from California. He began releasing music with Monstercat in 2015 and has quickly grown to become a widely recognized figure in the bass music scene, known for his distinguished take on trap and dubstep, alongside other styles. Slippy’s signature sound can best be described as a riveting hybrid of genres with dark, sinister, orchestral-influenced undertones. Many of Swartwout’s originals lure listeners in with rich atmospheres and eerie melodies, but quickly shift things into high gear with fiery, energetic bass drops. Swartwout has worked with acts such as Dirty Audio, Ace Aura, TYNAN, and Heimanu, with his productions receiving support from notable names like ILLENIUM, Steve Aoki, Seven Lions, NGHTMRE, Yellow Claw, Kayzo, Koven, Diplo, Adventure Club, and many more. He’s hot off of a 20+ date tour as direct support for  REAPER and is on a run of high-profile shows at Forbidden Kingdom, Bass Canyon, and Lost Lands. He has also become a favorite amongst tastemakers gaining support from Pendulum, Netsky, Illenium, Krewella, and many more.

YETEP, MANILA KILLA AND MYRNE LAUNCH NEW STARSIGNS PROJECT WITH NOSTALGIA-FUELED SINGLE "LEO (FLICKER)" ALONGSIDE GEORGE GLEESON ON LOST IN DREAMS RECORDS

yetep, Manila Killa and MYRNE launch their new collaborative project STARSIGNS with its inaugural single alongside UK singer/songwriter George Gleeson.

Dance music mainstays yetep, Manila Killa, and MYRNE are forming their new collaborative supergroup STARSIGNS. They are launching the project with its inaugural single “Leo (Flicker),” alongside venerated singer/songwriter George Gleeson, arriving by way of Lost In Dreams Records.

The cosmos is connecting in an astronomical fashion for the three melodic masterminds, as they breathe life into their new joint alias, STARSIGNS. Channeling the past while forecasting the future, the globally renowned artists yetep, Manila Killa and MYRNE are creating the perfect harmony between then and now. A love letter to the golden era of EDM, the trio sets out to chart the constellations around the beloved ‘10s decade of dance music. Aimed at deciphering trends and patterns through the lens of the Zodiac, STARSIGNS promises to deliver heavy doses of nostalgia via music sourcing from progressive house, timeless rave anthems, and mainstage firepower. They are stepping up with their debut offering on Lost In Dreams Records, serving as the lead single from their forthcoming EP due later this year.

Setting the tone for STARSIGNS comes the aptly titled “Leo (Flicker),” which ignites with the zeal and charisma of the fixed fire sign. Recruiting the vocal prowess of lauded UK songwriter and producer George Gleeson—co-written alongside Gold-certified, Billboard #1 phenom Liam Geddes in Dublin, Ireland—the single is engulfed in raw emotion. Gleeson’s visceral topline speaks to the primal fear of losing something special and, in turn, clinging on to a tiny glimmer of hope that things might rekindle. The production carries out a cosmic shift of its own, gently easing in with wistful guitar plucks, ethereal pads and skipping synth leads that crescendo towards pure magic. Once the track’s namesake loops, the track erupts into a classic progressive house bounce underscored by stuttering vocal effects that add weight to the swinging ostinato lead.

Speaking collectively about their single, STARSIGNS hints at the meaning with a horoscope reading: “In matters of the heart, Leo, today encourages bold expressions of love and passion. If single, a chance encounter might spark an exciting connection. Those in relationships should take the lead in planning a romantic gesture or heartfelt conversation. Your confidence and charm are your allies, making it a perfect day to deepen connections or pursue new love interests. Open your heart, and let your warmth and generosity draw closer bonds. Listen to yourself, and ‘Leo (Flicker),’ today.”

George Gleeson shines a bright light on the lyrics, saying, “This song is about the feelings of losing something and hoping that you can hold on to it. That, hopefully, the lingering embers of something can still grow into a bonfire.”

One week after revealing their first single, STARSIGNS will host their debut live performance together at Lost In Dreams festival in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles at LA Historic Park, taking place Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13th. They will share the stage with like-minded artists in the melodic space, including performances from Adventure Club, Seven Lions, Dab The Sky, Trivecta, Madeon, ARMNHMR, as well as label regulars Egzod, Codeko, Highlnd, and more. For more info, visit the official website.

With its very first reading taking the shape of “Leo (Flicker),” it appears as though all the stars are aligning for yetep, Manila Killa, and MYRNE, as they grace the world with their new endeavor, STARSIGNS.

ROHAAN CRAFTS HYPNOTIC, TRIBAL-FUELED DEEP DUBSTEP WEAPON "STICKS & STONES" ON HARD RECS

The UK-based producer returns to HARD Recs with menacing deep dubstep cut.

Manchester-based producer Rohaan has become the UK's pick of the bass music litter, developing an impressive following with a sound that traverses drum & bass, halftime, trap, and experimental beats. Making his return to Hard Recs comes the woofer-rattling dubstep anthem “Sticks & Stones.” The track follows a slew of impressive singles on the label, including “Musket” with the mighty Flowdan, “Something in the Green,” and “Euphoric.”

Diving straight into the deep dubstep sphere, Rohaan delivers his bass-heavy anthem “Sticks & Stones.” The track effortlessly moves between experimental and approachable, pushing a sound that is addictive and evocative. Built around hoarse vocal murmurs and tribal-like chants, the vocals are irresistibly entrancing. Complex percussive patterns and clattering accents drive the track forward with a playfully yet commanding pull. Bringing it all together is the soul-shaking low-end that will push the speaker stacks to their absolute max. Mind-bending synth play and filthy sound design adds the cherry on top of this sweet, sinister banger. Rohaan once again proves to be a dominant force in the UK electronic music scene.

Speaking to the genre-bending construction of his new single, Rohaan shares: “I have been on the road quite a bit the past few years. This has accumulated into a mixing pot of music that I have heard and played out. All different styles and genres. ‘Sticks & Stones’ was made in a time of experimentation with a simple sample and a groove. What more do you need, I guess! Enjoy.”

UK-based producer Rohaan continues to be one the brightest rising stars in the world of bass. Known for a sound that expands across the bass scene, he’s been included in the ‘Best Tracks of 2022’ by Mixmag, ‘Best Newcomer Artist 2022’ by Radaar Show, UKF’s ‘Top 20 Artists’ and ‘Top 20 Albums Of The Year’ and was nominated for DJ Mag's 'Breakthrough Producer' in 2023. The proof is all there. His music has been championed by Charlie Tee, Black Sun Empire, NGHTMRE & SLANDER, Thys, and Axel Boy. Rohaan is in the midst of his biggest year to date, with performances at EDC Las Vegas, Rampage Open Air, Tomorrowland, Let It Roll Festival, Locus Festival, and his debut headline show at Darkstar in Tempe.

Stick & Stones” is a genre-bending dubstep weapon primed to destroy festivals and club sets for the foreseeable future.
