FOLLOWING VIRAL SOUNDCLOUD FLIPS, PACKED UNDERGROUND POP-UPS, & SURPRISE FESTIVAL SETS,
THE CHICAGO-BORN PRODUCER CONTINUES HIS BOLD NEW ERA WITH A REMINAGINING OF THE 2009 ANTHEM
Today, electronic powerhouse Whethan continues his creative resurgence with the release of a bass-heavy reimagining of F.L.Y’s “Swag Surfin’.” Long celebrated as a unifying anthem across clubs, campuses, and sports arenas, the 2009 classic finds new life in Whethan’s hands as he transforms its iconic sway into a bold, modern reinvention built for a new generation of dance culture.
The release arrives on the heels of a wave of momentum. This summer, Whethan drew massive crowds with surprise sets at Electric Forest and Lightning in a Bottle, and packed out underground pop-ups in Atlanta and Los Angeles — the latter reaching capacity in under 30 minutes. Known for collaborations with Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Oliver Tree, and production credits for Megan Thee Stallion, Joji, and The Chainsmokers, the Chicago-born producer is reconnecting with the sound that first made him a phenomenon: heavy, unpredictable, bass-forward energy.
That rebirth has been fueled by a string of viral SoundCloud flips resonating across the dance community. Fans went wild when he dropped “XE3 (Whethan Turn),” his reimagining of Mssingno’s cult classic, while his gritty ‘Warehouse.Wavs’ EP has kept the momentum surging with explosive reworks of Playboy Carti and Latto’s “Blick Sum”, Doechii’s “Nissan Altima”, and 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.” His take on “Swag Surfin’” is the latest in this series — and perhaps the most anthemic yet.
Whethan’s rework channels the anthemic spirit of the 2009 hip-hop classic while pushing it into new sonic territory. Layers of distorted low-end and dynamic bass textures drive the remix forward, elevating its trap foundation and transforming it into a track primed for underground warehouses and mainstage crowds alike.
Whethan’s return to form comes after the release of ‘Life of a Wallflower Vol. 2’, which highlighted his growth and evolution while nodding back to his roots. Now, with his bass-driven flips, packed pop-ups, and viral remixes igniting online buzz, Whethan is setting the tone for a bold new era — one that’s grounded in chaos, freedom, and culture-shaping sound design.

The Man, and NLE Choppa, and creating one of Coachella’s most talked-about moments with viral star Mason Ramsey.
Known for his restless, genre-blurring style, Whethan has released charting singles like “High” and “Savage” while producing nearly 100 tracks for household names including Joji, Megan Thee Stallion, Kygo, X Ambassadors, The Chainsmokers, glaive, and ericdoa. His music has also crossed into culture at large, with placements in Euphoria, Fifty Shades of Grey, Apple, Sony PlayStation, the NFL, and more.
A dynamic live performer, Whethan has played marquee festivals and venues worldwide, from Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Ultra to Red Rocks and multiple sold-out headline tours. In 2024, he reconnected with his creative core on Life of a Wallflower, Vol. 2, before launching a bold new bass-forward era in 2025. With viral SoundCloud flips like his cult-favorite rework of MssingNo’s “XE3 (Whethan Turn)” and his gritty Warehouse.Wavs EP, Whethan is both honoring his roots and redefining his future — proving that, at just 26, he remains one of music’s most innovative and unpredictable forces.
