The French production pair offers up their new UK garage-driven single on Insomniac’s offshoot imprint.
French-born production duo SQWAD returns to IN / ROTATION with their latest appearance arriving in the form of their UK-leaning single “Looking At Me,” releasing on September 3rd.
“Looking At Me” embodies the infectious and feel-good essence of UK garage at its finest, serving as an exuberant anthem for the summer season. Radiant vocals depict the sensation of being caught off guard by a piercing glance, which are then chopped
and looped above a foundation of warm synth oscillations and buoyant basslines. Hollow percussive hits and shuffling drums keep the track grounded, with sheeny, euphoric chords adding a touch of brightness to the sleek breakdown.
Setting the scene for their latest creation, SQWAD puts it simply: "With the summer sun blazing and the beats pumping, everyone is “Looking at Me’ as I own the dancefloor."
Drawing from a diverse set of musical influences including disco, tech house, French touch, techno, and bassline, among others, SQWAD has spent close to a decade mobbing around all manners of house music. They share a longstanding history with Insomniac’s IN / ROTATION imprint with a healthy run of appearances stretching back to 2020. They most notably touched down on the label with their ‘Your Soul’ EP in 2022, which followed a string of singles, earning radio support from Oliver Heldens, Afrojack, Tchami, Richard Vission, Zeds Dead, and Tomo Hirata. Additionally, they’ve been commissioned for remixes by Malaa, Destructo, Jauz, Zeds Dead, and Habstrakt.
