The Belfast-based producer presents a blissful trance offering alongside Liverpool’s vocal powerhouse
Trance Wax is touching down on Dreamstate Records on December 6th with his label debut, arriving in the shape of his sensational trance single “Feel Your Love” alongside singer/songwriter Katy Alex.
For his first-ever outing on the Dreamstate imprint, Trance Wax recruits the vocal prowess of Liverpool’s lauded vocalist Katy Alex. “Feel Your Love” is a dreamy trance offering that radiates pure bliss. Alex’s silky vocal croons serve as
a beckoning call, with lofty synth flashes, pulsating basslines, and fluttering pads set against a smooth bed of shuffling drums. The result is another certified trance anthem from one of the brightest minds in dance and has already garnered early radio support from Armin van Buuren’s ‘A State of Trance’ radio show.
Divulging on how the track came to be, Trance Wax shares: “‘Feel Your Love’ was a track that was made quite quickly one morning. I already loved Katy’s voice and she sent over some demos she’d made and this was one. I then jammed the main melody out over it and the rest came together very quickly. So happy how it sounds; it’s probably my favourite trance production I’ve made!"
Behind Trance Wax is Belfast-born DJ and producer Ejeca, one of the most revolutionary forces to emerge from the trance music scene in recent memory. Known for breathing new life into the genre with his own forward-thinking interpretation, the UK producer originally broke out with club-ready reimaginings of early trance classics. His eponymous debut album in 2021 and last year’s expansive follow-up, ‘Open Up The Night,’ solidified his reputation as one of dance music’s most innovative creators.
With “Feel Your Love,” Trance Wax presents a transcendent masterpiece that embraces the essence of modern-day trance at its finest.
Trance Wax is a true master of his craft.
It was almost inevitable that growing up with a love for trance would eventually result in Garry McCartney releasing his own interpretations of the sound. From Trance Wax’s origins in 2016 as an outlet for the Belfast-based artist’s remixes of the genre, the alias of Ejeca is firmly cemented as a key player in the
contemporary trance landscape.
He now shifts into a fresh artistic chapter, having shared the previous self-titled album via Anjunabeats amidst a period where dancefloors were merely a figment of the imagination. Sophomore album ‘Open Up The Night’ via
independent dance label Armada Music is a club-oriented 16-track heater, championed by front runners including The xx’s Romy, Keinemusik and KI/KI.
Not satisfied with playing the eagerly-awaited tracks (alongside his stellar discography) in a DJ set, though, Trance Wax’s evolution into performing live - entirely solo, accompanied by Dan Tombs’ visuals - is a move which captures his bold, self-directed artistry.
Trance might be the genre becoming cool again - seminal international names including Bicep, Solomum, Tiësto and Calvin Harris are playing, or producing,
the sound - but Trance Wax remains firmly rooted to his ethos. He is unafraid to be pioneering within the scene to distinguish himself, exemplified through his
live setup, although the pride he feels witnessing the success and acclamation of music he has shared for years is immense.
This artistic drive of Trance Wax - unapologetically sharing the genre he loves in innovative ways - directly correlates to the recognition garnered since the birth of the project some years ago. A Radio 1 Essential Mix in the alias’ early days
set precedent for the forthcoming success for the already-respected artist, landing during a period where the genre was almost taboo to audibly enjoy. Add a Boiler Room in Montreal, a helping of self-titled US-based radio shows with
Insomniac and a string of sold out white label vinyl to the mix - plus collaborations with icons of the trance genre including Ferry Corsten and Moya Brennan, and remixes for key players including Solomun and Agents Of Time - and you can understand the scale of appreciation for Trance Wax.
