Electric Polar Bears are pushing their project into new sonic directions.
Since releasing their first music in 2021, and playing their first show at Groove Cruise in 2017, the Electric Polar Bears (who go by the names Zero and Snowball) have made a name for themselves with their unique thematic approach. Their mythology, which is inspired by polar landscapes and the raw, untamed energy of nature, has translated to real-world achievements and a renowned reputation; with claims of an Antarctic lab headquarters where they concoct perfect party-throwing strategies, the polar-bear headed duo have become known for stand-out shows that combine 3000 LED heads, powerful confetti cannons, dazzling lasers, frost machines, and a dedicated penguin parade backdropped by bouncy house beats.
Their infectious sound and magnetic performance style have led to collaborations with producers and vocalists such as Paris Hilton, Nitti Gritti, and TyDi; support from industry tastemakers like Afrojack, Alison Wonderland, Deorro, and Illenium; performances at festivals around the world including Decadence Arizona, Water Castle Carnival, and Global Dance Festival; and a showcase at Paris Hilton’s Neon Wedding.
Last month, the polar bear-headed duo announced their next EP, Where We Started. The 3-track package will see Zero and Snowball broadening their scope, both musically and philosophically, as they put a new spin on their signature party-starting antics and creative sensibilities by experimenting with vintage synths and drum machines while embracing contemporary digital softwares. This blend of technologies result in a classic house sound that’s filtered through a futuristic presentation.
The latest evolution of the duo’s artistry began while they were on tour in 2022, which led the Electric Polar Bears to uncover a newfound appreciation for the dance music community. By connecting with their fans in cities across the country, the duo fell in love with the authentic kinship they made with their audience, and discovered how that relationship stretches far beyond the music: they’re fostering a genuine community for their listeners and want to create uplifting, retro-futuristic house anthems to match their fans’ vibes.
Fans got their first taste of the EP with self-titled track “Where We Started” - a euphoric cut with a groovy, head-spinning beat that transports listeners to the inception of Electric Polar Bears’ musical journey.
Today, Electric Polar Bears unveil the EP’s second single, “Motion,” a vintage house cut incorporating nostalgic sound design imbued with shimmering, futuristic production. This track is an homage to the duo's passion for classic house music sounds; created on a trip to an isolated cabin where they began reflecting on their musical journey, they wanted to bridge a gap between the types of electronic music they initially loved with their current, modern sensibilities.
“Motion” kicks off with spacey, whirling synth pads that slowly guide the song into a contagious pitched down vocal sample accompanied by clapping hi-hats. Then, the track quickly drops into an energetic, vigorous bassline that transports the listener into a packed nightclub with lyrics, “Put your body in motion/You know what I like/Put your body in motion/Let’s get it on tonight,” words that connect with the listener both physically and emotionally, whether that be on the dance floor or in their soul.
Beyond packing out dance floors, Electric Polar Bears are dedicated to philanthropic endeavors and leveraging their platform to make a positive impact on the world. For their most recent charitable act, the duo have announced they will be donating 10 percent of their streaming revenue for the remainder of 2023 to Only.one’s Antarctica marine protection initiative - an initiative to protect vital Antarctic ecosystems and deliver the largest act of ocean protection in history.
The Electric Polar Bears (EPG) were born out of the love in combining detailed stage production with funky, fresh, bouncy house beats. Headquartered in their Antarctica laboratory, Polar Bears Zero and Snowball have amassed everything you might need to throw the ultimate dance party. From their giant custom 2000 LED heads to confetti cannons, lasers, frost machines and even their own penguin brigade, no festival experience is complete without the Polar Bears running the “snow.” The duo ended 2021 strong by releasing singles with Paris Hilton, TyDi, and TheReadSet. They also have hit the radio airwaves with tracks “Simple Things” and “You Never Know.”
By combining forces with their DJ and promoter friends, Zero and Snowball have traveled to stages around the world bringing their experience to life for the masses; even bringing their personal touch to Paris Hilton’s Neon Wedding in Fall 2021. With shows throughout the United States and Mexico already completed; the Bears have already kicked off 2022 strong with the plan of bringing the magic of live dance music to audiences around the world.
