ÎLESONIQ 2023 | A SPECTACULAR 8TH EDITION

SPIRITS SOAR AT ÎLESONIQ AS 65,000 PASSIONATE MUSIC FANS GET DOWN TO THE SPECTACULAR SOUNDS OF SUMMER IN MONTREAL!

It was an epic weekend on Montreal’s Île Sainte-Hélène, as the 8th edition of ÎLESONIQ unfolded in all its splendor, providing fans with an unforgettable experience with some of the world’s biggest dance music superstars! With three incredible stages (The Bell OASIS Stage being one of the biggest in North America!), some of the hottest acts in the world, cutting-edge lights and visuals, a top-tier sound system, and plenty of fun activations, plus the best of Montreal’s culinary community, there was something for everyone.

Over 65,000 fans travelled from across Canada and beyond (30 percent were from outside Quebec) to participate in a communal musical experience.

Saturday started out like hot fire, with a banger set from the Queen of Booty Bass, Canadian DJ, Mandiz. Even a downpour couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd for Claptone, who delivered delicious house with a couple of classics remixed in that signature style.

While on the MIRAGE Stage, Borgore 2B2 Level Up was a massive headbang session with slamming beats and some delicious pop mixed in for good measure. Rising star Ray Volpe, was also a highlight. Montreal’s own Adventure Club got their party started with plenty of hard-as-nails beats, anime visuals, plenty of heat and lots of fire (literally), plus they weaved some Quebec trad music into their set seamlessly.

Elderbrook’s set on the Coca-Cola NEON Stage was a moment of nuance amidst the storm of high-octane beats, with soaring vocals and plenty of beautiful texture in his music. Mau P delivered a decade-spanning house set with delightful mixing. While, on the main stage, Dutch DJ/producer Afrojack’s set was like a bolt of lightning in the rain to the sea of moving bodies, who didn’t seem to mind the rain at all, as he got heads rolling with a tight set of originals and blissful remixes.

Swedish legend Alesso lit up the Bell OASIS Stage with a melodic set that had the audience celebrating the end of the rains with total abandon. Bathed in luminous spotlights, Chris Lake had the deep low frequencies on full blast, putting the audience in a spell with beautifully hypnotic tracks.

The Chainsmokers kicked their set off with an onslaught of squeaks, squelches, and big fat beats. With a fiery set that had fists pumpin’, feet jumpin’ and people singin’ along. It was pure ecstasy. The American duo dug deep in their early hits, interspersing them with inspired remixes classics from The Veve, RHCP, Robyn, and The Verve.

Sunday, the sun was shining from the very first instant, and in addition to Ship Wrek’s haunting remix of Kiss "I Was Made For Loving You", the Bell OASIS Stage was pumping out incredible sets all day.

U.K. artist Becky Hill slayed the crowd with a vocal-heavy performance, owning the stage with total confidence and a slew of irresistible melodies.

Over at the MIRAGE Stage, LAYZ laid down the heaviness, with massive beats and a healthy dose of percussive metal for those who like their bass demonic.

Calcium rattled skeletons on the MIRAGE Stage, while Phase One completely tore the crowd a new one with unrelenting aggression in dance music form.

Bear Grillz got the crowd so hyped that Montreal Canadiens mascot Youppi! came to dance with the fans!! Over on the Coca-Cola NEON Stage, ANNA B2B Sama’ Abdulhadi had fans hypnotized by techno beats and digital froth of the two world-class DJs. German techno wizard Stephan Bodzin weaved a trancelike vibe for fans at the Coca-Cola NEON Stage.

Above & Beyond had the foundations shaking on the main stage before Martin Garrix took absolute control. With a blast of light to signal his reign in Montreal, the producer and DJ had the crowd singing along to many of today’s hits, remixed live in his unique style, with plenty of funk, fireworks, and that Garrix magic, while over on the MIRAGE Stage, VOYD offered up a sensory overload, a veritable feast for the eyes and ears. It was an unforgettable end to a spectacular festival!
