France-based producer Bizo makes his impactful debut on NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s label.
French producer Bizo is making his debut on NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s Gud Vibrations imprint with the heavy-hitting single “Eighto Eight.” The smasher sees the producer continuing his run of dubstep domination.
“Eighto Eight” is an unrelenting anthem of pure bass devastation. Ominous soundscapes lure listeners in with a sense of uneasy curiosity. A gritty vocal sample drifts into focus and carries out all along, while calling out the iconic drum machine that gives the track its namesake. Energetic melodies build a festival-like energy that’s flipped upside down with murky sound design and thick layers of filth. Erupting into a cacophony of classic rave stabs, drumline snare rolls, laser-sharp leads, and industrial synth textures, “Eighto Eight” morphs into its full form. Menacing and brutalistic, the track scores a futuristic robotic uprising. The finale fuses elements of classic dub with the forward-thinking soundscape stitched throughout for a fresh yet familiar feeling. As the signature vocal echoes out, the sinister energy pervades your mind, leaving you wondering what’s next from the dubstep maestro.
Bizo explores the inspiration for the single, stating, “I was at a show, few months ago, listening to the current DJ playing, and heard a track with 808s kicks that blew my mind, when I got back home, I tried to fool around with some 808s samples and got totally different results that became the main bass for this track, decided to keep the name "Eighto Eight" as a reference to that.”
The legendary piece of kit has permeated through electronic music for decades on end, and yet it still finds new ways to spark joy in the space, as evidenced by Bizo’s blistering debut appearance on Gud Vibrations.
