THE EP’S FOUR TRACKS SHOWCASE LIFE ON PLANETS’ ANTHEMIC
LATE NIGHT VOCALS OVER THUMPING BASSLINES
Baltimore born, Los Angeles based prolific multi-instrumentalist, producer and vocalist Life on Planets joins the Fool’s Gold family to release his four track house EP, FEELS INTL. The Soul Clap and Seven Davis Jr. collaborator is a welcome addition to the Fool’s Gold roster, delivering a soulful take on house music that combines a bedroom feel with club-ready grooves. The FEELS INTL EP showcases Life on Planets’ anthemic late night vocals over thumping basslines.
Founded by A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs in 2007, Fool’s Gold has been a long-time haven for trailblazers of cutting-edge electronic music and hip hop. With alumni ranging from the likes of Kid Cudi, Danny Brown, and Run The Jewels, to Justin Martin, Baltra, and Tchami - Fool’s Gold has been a constant source of forward thinking music.
Speaking on Life on Planets joining the Fool’s Gold imprint, A-Trak remarks: “At Fool’s Gold we’re attracted to artists and projects that have a ton of personality. We’re so proud to add Life On Planets to our roster. He crafted an EP that makes you feel like you’re listening to your cool friend’s late night jam session.”
A standout from the EP is its titular track, ‘Feels INTL’, a contagious groover which won’t be forgotten by any dancer who hears the track played out this summer. The main bass line offers a gritty rhythmic low end, while keeping listeners on their toes with lurching, reverberating percussion and an ironic braggadocio. Trance-inducing hats combined with a thumping kick create the perfect formula for stimulating any dancefloor. Life on Planets sings the lead vocal in perfect harmony over plucky guitar chords to create a truly infectious tune. ‘Feels INTL’ is accompanied by nautical music video, with Life on Planets performing the track on a boat surrounded by beautiful women as he raps “You can walk dat walk / Fingers interlocked / Lemme board your ship / Open up the airlock.”
Life on Planets says, “This collection of songs was made on the road, at friends houses, and in makeshift studios. It is a reflection of my time spent touring and the fascinating, funny situations I've encountered along the way. Taking influences from deep house, funk and hip hop, this body of work represents the evolution of the way I tell stories and how I seek to find that happy balance between the word and the groove.”
The FEELS INTL EP release comes at an exciting time for Life on Planets - with forthcoming EPs due on Desert Hearts and Rules Don’t Apply, as well as collaborations with Kiinjo on Sweat it Out and Pat Lok on Empire Dance in the pipeline. You can catch Life on Planets performing FEELS INTL live on tour starting this month, with stops in New York, Mexico and Ecuador.
