“ALONE” OUT NOW ON
ARMADA ELECTRONIC ELEMENTS
Multifaceted German producer, musician, live performer, and composer Jan Blomqvist enlists rising Hamburg-based songstress Malou on “Alone,” his latest contribution to longtime label Armada. The track doubles as Blomqvist’s first original release of the year, arriving on the heels of his recent 3-track EP Carry On and Malou’s third, following a highly-lauded collaboration with Dubdogz and VINAI, “I Don’t Mind (ft. Selva)” and “Love Like We’re Dying” with Scorz. “Alone” is a stunning slice of indietronica that meshes Malou’s breathtaking melodies, vocals, and lyrics with Blomqvist’s driving electronic production. “Alone” is out now via Armada Electronic Elements.
Through his signature fusion of powerful electronic music elements, soft instrumental riffs, and reflective toplines, Jan Blomqvist has become a staple name in “chill” playlists across the globe. His distinct brand of deep house and tech has caught the attention of powerful players in electronic music, including Ben Böhmer, Oliver Koletzki, and Mako, and even landed him the stamp of approval from the legendary Rolling Stones for his “Sympathy For The Devil” rework, “Synth For The Devil.” Beyond his remixes, Blomqvist’s work has generated a cult following of fans who travel across the world to catch his live sets. Similar to Monolink, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and HVOB, his performances showcase his club-friendly electronic compositions and remixes live, creating an intimate setting that amplifies the beauty of his work. His latest release, “Alone,” is yet another meticulously crafted record that sees him veer into the melodic house & techno space.
Malou, a 24-year-old Hamburg-based blossoming talent, injected her ethereal vocals, captivating piano melodies, and lyrical craftsmanship into Blomqvists’ catchy production to create a record glistening with promise, despite its somber lyricism. The singer/songwriter has made a name for herself through her unwavering authenticity and ability to capture universal sentiments in her work. In the past few years, she’s worked with the likes of Deepend, Ben Böhmer, Autograf, SAINT WKND, and, now, the renowned Jan Blomqvist. “Alone” meshes the best of both of their talents; a song primed for Blomqvist’s spectacular live setup or a stripped-back, acoustic moment with Malou.
"When it comes to exploring new territories good collaboration means having honesty and willingness to improve your arts. Malou and I clicked instantly and working with her felt effortless and natural. I love her singing. She has this beautiful tone to her voice that makes it unique and outstanding. I hope you enjoy Alone as much as I do."

"I wrote it in LA when I was feeling super alone! I have amazing friends I have my family but when you travel so much you still feel alone sometimes. I realized that this is okay everyone in a while feels alone. It was helpful for me to just let the feeling be and to feel that way. Therefore I felt even more grateful for what I’ve got :) "

Not a DJ. Jan Blomqvist is a musician, singer, and producer who plays his own club-friendly electronic compositions live. He has always played live. At first, it was grunge with guitars and drums, but after moving to Berlin and with the new advances in computer hardware and music production software, Jan switched gears and learned how to play this new mega-instrument. Orchestras at your fingertips. Possibility squared. Producing fat techno and electro beats and testing them on club systems after-hours, Jan created a new sonic environment foundation for his now-signature vocals and melodic songwriting. You have to be good to be lucky. But it takes more than talent and luck to play at Coachella 3 times or become one of the most exciting acts at Burning Man, playing now 5 years in a row as a main fixture on the massive art cars of the Mayan Warrior and Robot Heart. Drawing 12.000 fans in Athens regularly or playing for 20.000 as one of the headliners of the Sola Festival in Kassel, Germany, takes also decades of hard work. Jan puts in crazy-long hours. Playing nearly 1,000 gigs already, his touring schedule, like the venues, is always filled to capacity. When he’s not on tour, Jan spends his days in his studio in Prenzlauer Bergrefining your new favourite tracks. Of original music, Jan has released 2 full-length albums and tons of singles, usually solo, but sometimes collaborating as he has with heavyweights like Ben Böhmer and Oliver Koletzki for example. And with the right constellation of factors, he might be down to remix. Like when Claptone sent Jan the track they did with Seal, or when he got a call from Mako. To hear and feel him live is the whole point. Jan was born to perform. When the music starts he elevates the room and connects, for and with you. Sitting between worlds, Jan is well-established, yet still underground. He is totally professional, but still in touch with a child-like sense of curiosity and awe. You might have guessed that he has been working on new music for you. He has, and it’s very good. Melodies and songs that he has been humming in the back of his head for years, he pulls out when the time is right and then works them tirelessly, until they are more or less perfect.
Pop and Electro Pop with an edge: young Hamburg-based musician Malou with Hawaiian roots enchants audiences with her magnificent songwriting, unique voice and her thoughtful, reflective attitude. With wisdom belying her 24 years, Malou cuts to the chase: one should not underestimate the depth and (self)reflection needed to become an artist. The intricate arrangements are anchored by Malou's unique voice, ascending and descending scales with great virtuosity. Alternately she beckons with ethereal sounds and bewitches with her deep, dark register.
Having talent is one thing, using and cultivating this gift with commitment, passion and courage is another. Malou pursues her career as a singer/songwriter with singular determination. She taught herself to play the guitar to accompany her lyrics. She sent the first songs to producers, publishers and radio stations. Not only her talent was convincing, but also the unruffled ease of her approach.
She commutes between all over Europe and the US, is having writing sessions in Nashville and Atlanta, releasing features with artists like Deepend, Ben Böhmer, Jan Blomqvist, Autograf, and SAINT WKND and having first synch deals for advertisements and movies. She is also writing a lot for other artists in different genres and languages!
