MINDCHATTER UNVEILS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SOPHOMORE LP, DREAM SOUP

Mindchatter will make his Coachella debut on Friday, April 22 at the DoLab Stage

“We’re all made of cosmic slush and soon return to just that. At a young age we start to imagine what our ideal self looks like and we construct an identity around that image. We then spend much of our lives reinforcing the personality we’ve created.

The album, DREAM SOUP, speaks to how our own identities get in our way. The opening line says ‘I forgot who I was, I wish that that would last but now I'm back, now I'm back.’ The best moments in life are the ones when we are free of ourselves.” - Mindchatter

Multi-instrumentalist, singer, and producer Mindchatter has quickly built an impressive catalogue and fanbase since releasing his first single in 2019.

The shape-shifting sonics of the New York-based artist have garnered Mindchatter, aka Bryce Connolly, praise from Pete Tong via his taste-making BBC Radio 1 show, earned him the coveted support slot on Polo & Pan’s North American tour, and amassed his releases millions of streams across platforms from listeners transfixed by his introspective lyrics and icy digital palette.

Now, Mindchatter unveils his sophomore album, DREAM SOUP, a genre-bending, thirteen-track package that deals in heady themes while sliding between the scale of intricately produced electronic music and catchy indie pop songwriting. The album, which is written, produced, and sung entirely by Connolly, releases via taste-making label Mind Of A Genius Records (GallantZHUTHEY.).

DREAM SOUP kicks off with “Human Shape,” a track that seamlessly blends its many instrumental elements with Connolly’s characteristically airy vocals, evolving slowly by adding new layers of sound design and vocal processing. “Human Shape” encapsulates the aesthetic and philosophical ethos of the whole album: by combining bodily noise effects with groovy basslines and syncopated drum patterns, the track evokes harrowing corporeal imagery while encouraging the listener to dance along to its disassociating themes.

Elsewhere on the tracklist is “Sticks And Stones,” a wistful ballad full of dreamy piano melodies and tasteful, propulsive percussion. There’s also the minimal electronica of “Hide Your Face,” which adds a club mood to the album’s overall surreal, stylistically diverse atmosphere.

DREAM SOUP is dropping off the backs of singles such as the industrial “Math;” the intimate pop track “Nothing On Me;” the cosmic, spaciously layered cut “It’s Ok (It’s Not Ok);” the minimal yet hypnotizing “Inch Off The Earth;” and the bouncy, carnivalesque “Answer Me”. EDM.com has already hailed DREAM SOUP as one of the ‘22 Game-Changing Electronic Albums coming in 2022.’

Mindchatter is showcasing his renowned live performance prowess across North America on his headlining DREAM SOUP tour, and will make his Coachella debut on Friday, April 22 at the DoLab Stage. Having already touched down at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere and Washington D.C.’s Union StageMindchatter will spend the next three months bringing multi-instrumentalist bliss to venues like Los Angeles’ El Rey Theater, and Denver’s Larimer Lounge, in addition to playing his first-ever set at Electric Forest. ABOUT Mindchatter
Hailing from NYC, Mindchatter is the artist project of singer, songwriter, and producer Bryce Connolly. After his debut single “Trippy” dropped in 2019, Mindchatter quickly gained recognition for his genre-defying sound and unique approach to music. By fusing introspective and thought-provoking lyrics with infectious, danceable beats, Mindchatter earned early praise from the likes of Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. He was subsequently invited on tour with Polo & Pan where he first debuted his live show.

2020 saw the rising artist sign to Mind Of A Genius Records with whom he released his debut album, Imaginary Audience in October of that year. He’s since followed up with a string of singles in a lead up to his highly anticipated follow up album, due out in 2022.

Mindchatter’s live performance is where he truly stands apart from the pack, bringing a full live set with a one-of-a-kind visual experience. He first gave fans a taste of this audio-visual spectacle while on his debut headline tour in the fall of 2021.
