SODOWN REWARDS HIS ‘THE GETDOWN’ FAN COMMUNITY WITH EXCLUSIVE FIRST LISTEN OF FORTHCOMING GET UP EP, OUT FRIDAY, APRIL 1

The saxophone-playing bass producer rolled out a cryptic three-part video series teasing the EP, and mailed superfans corresponding letters containing clues to solve and share

SoDown will showcase Get Up at Red Rocks on Friday, April 8 as support for BOOGIE T ON THE ROCKS

Denver-based creative polymath SoDown has always gone against the grain.

The saxophone-playing production maestro has tattooed his own unmistakable brand of thunderous, gritty bass, and cultivated a dedicated fanbase who celebrate his experimental soundscapes and homegrown authenticity. The artist’s tight-knit Facebook community, The GetDown (SoDown Family), boasts more than 4000 members who love sharing ideas, music, art, and good vibes.

Over the last two months, SoDown unveiled a three-part video series that doubled as both a love letter to The GetDown family, and a cryptic tease of his forthcoming Get Up EP, which drops Friday, April 1.

The first video depicted SoDown dripping hot wax onto a letter which he stamped with his moniker’s emblem. Behind-the-scenes, 30 fans received letters and were tasked with solving the cypher inside, which revealed “new EP coming soon.” Recipients then shared their discoveries in the Facebook group, congregating their fellow fans to revel in curiosity.

The second video saw SoDown trekking across Denver to sign, seal, and deliver more enigmatic letters that furthered the mystery.

The final video culminated with the producer uploading HQ Get Up EP audio files to SoDown-branded USBs, which were mailed to superfans who were encouraged to share with The GetDown community.

In addition to snagging the Get Up EP, one superfan also won an exclusive opportunity to join SoDown at Red Rocks on Friday, April 8 for his ‘BOOGIE T ON THE ROCKS’ performance. The winner and their guest will be treated to the ultimate Red Rocks experience, including a meet-and-greet, backstage walkthrough, and free SoDown merchandise.

Ahead of Get Up’s release on Friday, April 1, the EP’s lead single is out now via YouTube. A collaboration with Canadian genre-bending beatmaker Defunk, “Get Up” is a reggae-fueled bass anthem underscored by SoDown’s flourishing saxophone sounds. The synth-forward single sets a versatile, dub-focused tone for the gripping Get Down EP to follow next week.

Fans can catch the saxophone-wielding bass purveyor on tour across the US this year, with performances at Summer Camp Music Festival, Chicago’s historic Aragon Ballroom, The Gorge Amphitheatre, Forbidden Kingdom Festival and more.
