‘YEAR ONE’ VA IS OUT NOW
Rapidly growing NYC-based label Indo Warehouse has announced their 7th and final showcase of the year, Year One. Slated to take place in Avant Gardner’s coveted Great Hall on December 10th, the event will double as a celebration and culmination of everything the collective has accomplished this year. Marking their biggest party yet, Indo Warehouse: Year One will feature headlining performances from label heads Kahani and Kunal Merchant, as well as immersive sets from rising New Jersey-based DJ and producer Ethyr, NYC-based beat curator ShiShi, Canadian producer and visual artist Khanvict, and a rhythmic and introspective joint performance from AREUBLUE and multifaceted rising vocalist Payal Jay. To give fans a sneak peek of what the night will look like, Indo Warehouse has released its debut compilation album, Indo Warehouse: Year One. The Year One VA will showcase how the IW sound continues to grow and flourish across the 6 key artists that will step behind the decks the following night.
There is no denying that Indo Warehouse has had a pivotal year. Aside from taking over a myriad of highly sought-after venues across New York City with their sound, they solidified their position as a full-fledged label. Kicking off with founder Kahani’s singles, “Babala,” “Sawali,” and “Ranjha,” in early 2022, Indo Warehouse expanded its reach and welcomed world-class releases from Kunal Merchant and Ethyr. While each record is distinct in structure, they are all held together by the sound that is now commonly attributed to the label: driving electronic beats sprinkled with South Asian vocal and instrumental elements. Their first-ever compilation album includes all 7 tracks that dropped this year, as well as 6 brand new records: Kunal Merchant’s “Kanmani (ft. Rini)” AREUBLUE’s “New Dawn,” “Four On The Floor,” a powerful collaboration from Ben Arsenal, Saved by the Rhythm, Payal Jay, and jonzombie, Kahani’s long-awaited “Darbar,” Ethyr’s “Mukti,” ShiShi’s “Together,” and, finally, an ambient-driven Eastern-inspired gem, “Under The Fire,” by Kahani & Nihal Singh.
In addition to defining its signature label sound, Indo Warehouse further developed its rapidly growing and increasingly popular event concept. Throughout the span of the year, they threw six unforgettable events and managed to sell out each one, with each nearing sell-out faster than the last. The team captured eyes, ears, and hearts with an immersive experience that celebrates blended cultures and amplifies South Asian talent. The Indo Warehouse brand quickly became synonymous with style, often encouraging attendees to celebrate South Asian culture, experiment with traditional garb and modern twists, and express themselves. In September, they joined forces with South Asian New York Fashion Week (SANYFW) during Fall NYFW to throw the official kickoff party for their inaugural edition.
