DAVID PENN MAKES A CONTEMPORARY REVISIT TO JUNIOR JACK’S HOUSE CLASSIC “STUPIDISCO” WITH NEW REMIX OUT NOW ON TINTED RECORDS

Release includes string of additional remixes by Jolyon Petch, Elektrik Disko, and Storken

“Stupidisco was the last track of my album,” Junior Jack recounts the story of the original record. “I was locked in the studio for three months, for nearly 18 hours a day. And on the last day when I finished all of the tracks, I decided to do one more track and to do something “stupid” for the final record, and that I would use a “disco” sample. I went into my record room and randomly picked 10 records from the bottom shelf of my disco vinyl collection, then drove straight to the studio. The Pointer Sisters vinyl was the 4th one. Within three hours, ‘Stupidisco’ was produced and mixed!”

Italian DJ/producer Junior Jack resurfaces into the spotlight with a remix package of his house classic “Stupidisco,” with an euphorically feel good remix by Spanish producer David Penn.

This is the first time any official remixes of “Stupidisco” have been commissioned since it's release in 2004. The original was a Top 20 single in the U.K and the #1 U.S. Dance Chart record. David Penn’s remix lends a funky cowbell hand to the original, maintaining its highly revered dancefloor verve by paying homage to its powering bassline, 80s inspired melodic keyboard synths, fervent drum work, and that iconic vocal hook.

Penn’s remix is out now on Tinted Records and is joined by additional reworks from producers Jolyon Petch, Elektrik Disko, and Storken.

ABOUT JUNIOR JACK
Junior Jack is one of the most prolific house music mixers of that magical era, and we haven’t even mentioned his chart-topping disco classic “Make Luv” by his alter ego Room 5, which made it to the very top of the charts in 2003 in the UK. As a DJ, he dominated dance floors relentlessly across the globe, including his residency at Pacha in Ibiza, where he really came into his own as the master of his own sound for Defected and at Ministry Of Sound in London.

Recently, his shows have been mostly headline gigs with JJ as the house headliner, where he sits alongside the current greats, like The Martinez Brothers, Dennis Ferrer, and Solomun. “At a recent festival, I shared the decks with Roger Sanchez which was cool as he’s someone I really respect and a while back I saw people I didn’t see in a while, like Mousse T. I was just a kid when I went to see him for the first time and he’s stayed a very cool guy!” As for respected artists he would like to play with, he says luminaries such as Green Velvet or Hot Since 82 would be cool: “I like what they do and I like the groove they have.”

It’s been a busy time for Vito as he also launched his new label Adesso Music with his friend and partner Pat BDS. Using the label to release their own music, it’s gone on to sign other new artists such as Tim Cullen, Ferra Black, DOWNLow (US), Adam De Maaral, Jochem Hamerling and Virak. “it’s been great to work with new artists and to have more established artists remix them”, he says. The list of remixers now includes established legends such as Joeski, Harry Romero, Kolombo and Todd Terry to the newer vanguard of Darius Syrossian, Yousef, Max Chapman, Audiojack, Butch, Patrice Baumel and Josh Butler.

And now Junior Jack is returning again with an inimitable house groove of his own: hold tight.

ABOUT DAVID PENN
In a memorable year, where Defected Records continued to throw down the gauntlet to the rest of the global house scene, Spanish housemaster David Penn was an omnipresent force in 2019. Ranked #1 house music artist of all-time and #5 all genres artist of the last 12 months by an unassailable points margin on industry recognised website Beatstats (to go alongside his already long standing #1 position on Traxsource), he topped and tailed a summer long assault on the top of the house charts once again, with two heavyweight releases on the iconic label.

First came his ubiquitous roof-raising remix of Pete Heller’s all-time house classic “Big Love” which dominated DJ charts and dancefloors the world over, followed by “Stand Up,” a supercharged gospel house masterpiece which captures David at his hand-clapping, piano-riffing best, with rousing breaks proven to ‘take the dancefloor to church’ every time.

These anthemic tracks epitomise the unique style and contagious energy encapsulated within a modern-day David Penn DJ set. Captivating audiences with his live keyboard-playing, boundless enthusiasm and infectious trademark grin, the resulting perpetual hands-in-the-air moments provide a joyful reminder of the remarkable power of DJing as a performance art.

Alongside previous huge club hits such as “Hipcats,” “Nobody,” and his remix of the Todd Terry classic “Babarabatiri,” these stand out anthems have cemented David’s position as the most exciting and successful house music artist in the world right now.
