EMERY’S NFT COLLECTION LSR/CITY DROPS ON APRIL 15 VIA NIFTY GATEWAY
“The sculpture is pretty bonkers, but I’m glad to have a whole range of prices for the rest of the collection from $1 to $5,000,” Gareth Emery explains. “I look forward to making laser history with Nifty Gateway this week!”
World-famous DJ Gareth Emery (4M followers across social media) will drop his innovative NFT collection LSR/CITY (pronounced ‘laser city’) on April 15 via Nifty Gateway.
LSR/CITY an inventive collection that features a one-of-a-kind laser sculpture priced at $250,000, and lets one lucky buyer watch their NFT played live in concert.
When Covid forced Emery to cancel his epic arena laser show, typically seen by hundreds of thousands each year and featuring nearly 60 lasers in sync at a time (watch here), he channeled that technology to create LSR/CITY.
LSR/CITY is a conceptual show containing five brand-new NFTs accompanied by five brand-new Gareth Emery songs. Gareth and laser designer Photon filmed intricately choreographed laser shows using a variety of shutter speeds and lenses to create mind-bending patterns, before displaying each show inside beautifully-rendered glass cubes in a series of cities designed by 3D artist Ilya Tsvetkov.
The collections’ flagship piece, the 1/1 LSR/CITY: THE METAVERSE, includes a physical laser sculpture of the cube itself, hand-engineered in chrome, which projects the NFT’s show using a real laser in the auction’s winner’s home, or - more likely - an exhibition space. The sculpture will be kept in Art Angels' state of the art, climate controlled vault in Miami where it will remain in mint condition for future trades — or shipped to the winners when they choose to redeem it.
The auction winner will also get to attend a future Gareth Emery show to watch their own NFT being performed by an array of lasers to a crowd of thousands. The only decision the winner will have to make is whether to enjoy the show from a dedicated VIP viewing platform, or in the booth with Emery himself.
The four city-based pieces — LONDON, TOKYO, LOS ANGELES, and GENESIS — all feature a backdrop inspired by the city’s aesthetic, along with an original piece of music by Gareth encapsulating the city’s feeling.
Three of the cities will be strictly limited to 15 pieces each, sold by either drawing or silent auction. Emery’s inclusive pricing offers something for fans of all income brackets - the Tokyo NFT will cost $1, while the London NFT will cost $4,999. GENESIS will be an open-to-all, $499 open edition for collectors of all types.
LSR/CITY opens at Nifty Gateway on April 15.
