Grunge House innovator Saint Punk channels his frustrations with injustice on “Molotov Cocktail”

Out now via his own Graffiti Records label

“I’ve been angry and frustrated with how the police and administration have been responding to the protests, and this is my therapy to that frustration,” Saint Punk says. “I had been thinking about some kind of protest song and one morning I woke up with the idea and lyric in my head. I recorded a voice memo, then went into the studio and brought it to life. It’s my anthem for everyone’s frustration. I share this with the world.”

Los Angeles-native Saint Punk is back with his latest ‘Grunge House’ ripper “Molotov Cocktail,” this time on his own imprint Graffiti Records.

“Molotov Cocktail” is a thumping, high-octane heater featuring commanding vocals by the producer himself. Getting the groove started with a staccato 4/4 beat, the track dips into an ominous break, setting the scene with an emergency services call sample leading the listener into the eye of the storm. As Saint Punk’s vocals wade in, a flute-like melody guides the track to its rising peak before dropping listeners into a storm of crunching bass beats and rumbling vocals.

Fans will instantly recognize Saint Punk’s driving pipes from a slew of combustive records that placed him firmly on the electronic music innovator map last year, including “Menace” which released via Tchami’s Confession label. Tchami himself rinsed the vocal hit at festivals across the world, and “Menace” also scored support from Jauz, Ephwurd, and Insomniac’s Night Owl Radio. Last year also saw Saint Punk release originals and remixes with labels including Monstercat, Big Beat, Dim Mak, Bite This!, and Thrive, and has another single dropping via Armada at the end of August.

In addition to his monstrous studio output, Saint Punk graced the stage at Audiotistic in Southern California last year, and showcased his pioneering sonics at clubs across the country, including New York’s Brooklyn Mirage, Los Angeles’ Sound and Academy, and the 2019 Miami Music week Confession Showcase.

“Molotov Cocktail” is the sophomore release from Saint Punk’s Graffiti Records, following last year’s gritty single “Guttah.” The Graffiti moniker stems from Saint Punk’s penchant for DIY visual artistry as well, having taught himself graphic design, photo, and video in order to create promotional materials for his musical projects.

Saint Punk continues to flex his video production muscles with his bi-monthly Band Practice YouTube series, during which he lifts the curtain of music production and invites his community to learn directly from the source.
