JOHN SUMMIT AND ILLENIUM TO HEADLINE THIS HISTORIC 2025 EDITION

îLESONIQ, presented by Virgin Plus in collaboration with Beach Day, has become a cornerstone of Montréal’s vibrant summer music scene. This year marks a massive milestone: the 10th edition of îLESONIQ, and we're celebrating a decade of unforgettable memories, world-class performances, and the unbeatable energy that makes this festival one of a kind. From mind-blowing visuals and interactive installations to a buzzing festival site, this 10th edition is going to be huge!

CHARLOTTE DE WITTE REWORKS SCOOP’S 90’S UPBEAT FLOORFILLER ‘DROP IT’ OUT NOW ON HER ÉPOQUE IMPRINT

Charlotte de Witte reworks Scoop’s 90s raver fave ‘Drop It’ for her niche Époque label, a platform for remixes/reworks of historic nightlife gems, especially from the 90s & early noughties. Her version is out now, just in time to give any flagging high-summer dancefloors an energy boost.

“‘Drop It’ is one of those tracks that never really left the dance floor. It carries the spirit of an era, especially in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Reworking it for Époque felt like a tribute to a timeless moment in rave history. This one’s for the dancers, then and now.” - Charlotte de Witte

Scoop’s original ‘Drop It’ was released in 1999 by the Belgian dance music project Scoop, written by Daniel Maze and Jan Vervloet. It’s been a staple ever since, upbeat, innocently europop electro and packed with 90s fun – rattle-tat drum builds, ludicrously catchy staccato tootling synth themes, the female ‘yeah-ay-ay-eh-eh-eah’ war cry, and a melodic synth chord break. Oh, and Otis Redding’s much-sampled 1968 Monterey promise.

‘Drop It’ (Charlotte de Witte Rework) is a slightly faster, more demanding beast, with a pounding indeed invincible techno beat, the iconic synth riffs given extra acidic edge and resonance, while fluttering, juddering themes now fill the air like batwings. The original instantly recognisable 90s themes are still here, with its huge breakdown and banging drop, and some subtle echoes of Otis R. A hefty slice of pure dancefloor uplift.

DAN SUSHI RETURNS TO PURIFIED RECORDS WITH ‘HORIZON’ EP

OUT NOW ON ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS

A staple artist on Purified Records, Dan Sushi returns to the label with his two-track ‘Horizon’ EP - a powerful blend of nostalgic textures, emotive depth, and club-ready dynamics that highlights his ongoing evolution as a producer.

Opening with the title track, ‘Horizon’ draws listeners into a dreamlike world where airy melodies and atmospheric pads meet gritty rhythmic force. Merging nostalgic, rave-inspired synth lines with a refined modern aesthetic, the Swiss producer crafts a hypnotic journey that blurs the lines between past and present. The track unfolds with smooth momentum, layering intricate percussion and driving low-end beneath a glowing melodic lead that gives the piece its euphoric lift.

Flipping to ‘Nostalgia’, the EP dives deeper into cinematic territory. A weighty bassline and delicately grooved percussion form the foundation, while sweeping melodies and evolving textures guide the listener through a soundscape that’s as introspective as it is immersive. A serene breakdown evokes natural beauty and emotional stillness, before building back into a rhythm-driven crescendo that’s primed for late-night dancefloors.

Renowned for his ability to fuse delicate emotion with bold sonic design, Dan Sushi continues to refine his sound with each release. The ‘Horizon’ EP stands as a testament to his artistic clarity - balancing the energy of underground club culture with a melodic sensibility that resonates far beyond the dancefloor.

The ‘Horizon’ EP artwork is an aerial photograph of a glacial river in Iceland taken by Jan Erik Waider. A fine art photographer based in Hamburg, Germany, Jan is known for capturing abstract landscapes of the northern latitudes. With a focus on water, ice, and intricate natural patterns, his work reveals the beauty hidden in the subtle details of the world around us.
