AZZECCA LAUNCHES HER NEW PARTY BRAND ‘COSIMEA’

‘An exploration of forward thinking and other-worldly club sounds’

An ARC Music Festival afterparty, Smartbar Chicago, August 30th

Plus her cosmic vibe Mindchatter remix out now

Chicago’s high-energy, acid/dark dance DJ/producer Azzecca launches her new party brand ‘Cosimea’ into the electronic world in the form of an ARC Music Festival Chicago afterparty on August 30th at the iconic Smartbar (previous residents inc. Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter, The Blessed Madonna). This will be Azzecca’s third year playing at ARC in her home town, so it’s the ideal venue for the first Cosimea party, which takes the place of her Dirty Disco series in Chicago, with guests Salute and X CLUB..

Both sound- and artist-wise, Cosimea will spotlight the ‘slightly left of centre, cosmic vibe’ which is newly hitting dancefloors. Crucially, the new brand keeps and expands the ethos of her previous much-loved, female-safety-focused global event series ‘Dirty Disco’, providing inclusivity and safe spaces for all communities to enjoy cosmic sounds and hot emerging talent.

Tastemakers’ favourite Azzecca, with strong support inc. BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Danny Howard, Sarah Story, Arielle Free, and shows at Coachella, Movement Festival, Elsewhere Brooklyn, Radio 1 Ibiza as well as ARC, keeps conquering new worlds of success after a rocket of a career blast-off, releasing on DGTL, Kompakt, Maccabi House, Higher Ground, and now…

Azzecca’s new remix of Mindchatter’s ‘Corporate Shakespeare’ just dropped on ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective in partnership with Ninja Tune on July 25th. Azzecca says she ‘really leaned into that cosmic sound with this’, taking the original’s quirkily enjoyable robotic, fuzzily distorted, love-child of Kraftwerk and Devo with vocals by HAL (‘2001’), and making it club-ready. The beings in her ‘other world’ clearly like raving as much as we do, with a punchy, much faster, stronger beat/bass, the distorted melodies having a flavour of her acid-drop recent singles, and the mechanised vocals now asking ‘do you have the bandwidth’ in the breakdowns. Yes, we do.

Says Azzecca: ‘Although I owned the Dirty Disco name and trademark, a collective in Texas who’d previously used the name asked me for the use of it, and out of a love and respect for queer spaces in dance music, I was more than happy to hand over the trademark to allow them to grow and flourish. Now I am more than looking forward to the future, as I’ve taken this opportunity and time with my team to create a new project that feels like a true extension of the Azzecca brand. ‘Cosimea’ will grow to be much, much more than an event series.’

* Cosimea at Smartbar: tickets will go on sale at 12PM CT on Wednesday July 31st exclusively to ARC pass holders.

LAROZ RETURNS TO HARABE WITH SOFA SURFING EP

It’s been busy year in the studio for Laroz. Following a string of critically acclaimed releases on the likes of Connected Frontline, Sincopat, Exploited, NiaSounds and his very own Camel Riders imprint, the in-demand producer now looks to continue 2024 in style, as he lands on Harabe with his incredible new two-track EP, Sofa Surfing. Out now, the Sofa Surfing EP marks Laroz’s eagerly anticipated return outing on the Istanbul-based imprint, following his remix of Majnoon’s ‘Bharama’ back in 2020.

First up, we’re treated to the brooding title track ‘Sofa Surfing’. Exploring the darker side of his repertoire, Laroz layers organic drum patters with sweeping pads and ethereal piano refrains, as he inaugurates the EP in style with a mesmerising dancefloor cut. A wonderfully nuanced underground house record, drawing on complex textures, longing melodic riffs and immaculate production values, this is Laroz at his very best.

On the flip, Laroz teams up with Tel Aviv-based vocalist and long-time collaborator SHEERA for the EP’s closer ‘Time With You’. Tantalising the listener with their expert manipulation of tribal polyrhythms, delicate synth work and an infectious topline, Laroz and SHEERA pull out all the stops with this fitting finale, as they close out an emphatic debut EP release on Harabe.

With a career marked by a deep understanding and exploration of diverse musical genres, Laroz has established himself as a trailblazer in the electronic music world. His music seamlessly blends contemporary tech house, deep house, and dance club music with the evocative sounds of his Mediterranean roots. Laroz's extensive discography includes releases on esteemed labels such as Diynamic, Sol Selectas, Selador, Exploited, Frau Blau and his own imprints, Man House and Camel Riders. His unique sound has earned him a place among the top echelons of the music industry, with tracks frequently appearing on Beatport's Techno and Progressive House charts and being played by renowned DJs like DJ Solumun, Acid Pauli, and Unders.

LOCAL DIALECT REMIX ANAKIM AND DARK HEART’S ‘SECONDS AWAY’

Out Now Across All Streaming Platforms

Continuing their rich vein of form in 2024, esteemed electronic music duo Local Dialect unveil their new remix of Anakim & Dark Heart’s ‘Seconds Away’. This remix offers a fresh, contemporary twist on the original, blending influences from the 2010s Trance and Progressive House scenes that initially inspired Local Dialect's entry into dance music.

"When Anakim & Dark Heart reached out to us for a potential remix offer, we were already primed to say yes - but hearing that amazing vocal from Frynn sealed it! We wanted to create something that had a different feel than the original and so we went in a more progressive direction, bringing in influences from the sounds of the 2010s that brought us into electronic music. This one was a pleasure to work on and it came together quickly once we locked in that lead melody," - Local Dialect

The duo recently road-tested the track at shows in New York City and Philadelphia, garnering huge enthusiasm and hype from the respective crowds. Known for their ability to craft music that thrives on the dance floor, Local Dialect's remix of ‘Seconds Away’ combines club-ready energy with melodic sensibilities; qualities that have become essential to Local Dialect’s sound palette. Their use of analog synths, like the Prophet 6, and innovative vocal manipulations on this track highlight the pair’s commitment to producing compelling and dynamic electronic music that is unapologetically Local Dialect.
