MERSIV AND EFFIN LOCK HORNS ON HEAD-SPINNING DUBSTEP COLLAB "BELONG TO ME" ON BASSRUSH RECORDS

The two bass music heavyweights split their innovative sounds with new single on Bassrush Records

Denver’s Mersiv and Nashville’s Effin are two of the hottest names in the world of bass music. The former has made his own lane using emotive soundscapes with mind-twisting sound design, while the latter is renowned for fusing vintage sounds with hard-hitting modern-day techniques. Their new collaboration “Belong To Me” balances their distinctive styles and arrives on Bassrush Records.

Belong To Me” is a surreal bass single that’s commanding and explosive. Spiraling synth sequences and spellbinding vocal hooks create an eerie hypnotizing pull. The rock-influenced lead vocal is balanced against rap samples to add a grittier aesthetic. Driving drums and supersonic risers set the course before skyrocketing listeners into another dimension. The bass-heavy drops are an explosion of dubstep dominance that mixes fluttering sub-bass progressions, clattering percussion, laser-like flourishes, and brain-bending sound design. An emotive break welcomes back the cinematic air of the intro, allowing the namesake vocals to tug tighter at the soul. The pair hit the bass blasters once more for a retooled second drop that feels like swerving through the galaxy at warp speed. The echoed vocal bids listeners adieu as the track fades away like a spacecraft drifting into the abyss.

Effin explains the goal when bringing the song to life, saying, Mersiv and I wanted to build something that was a pure 50/50 of our styles. Combining a bit of old-school sound with new punchy and crunchy production. This one really grabs you and hits you with a wall of sound, and it’s been crushing live, as well!”

Echoing his sentiments, Mersiv adds, “I’ve been an Effin fan for a couple years actually, and one day I commented on his post saying I loved his snares—and he hit back saying if we do a collab, I'll give you a snare, haha. So, here we are now about to release ‘Belong to Me!’”

Nashville producer Effin has been tearing through the bass scene with a heavy-hitting sound that moves from dubstep to trap, melodic bass, leftfield bass, and beyond. He’s gearing up for a stacked festival season with appearances at Bass Camp, Bass Canyon, and Lost Lands, and will be providing direct support for Tape B at 6 stops on his upcoming Fall Tour. The track follows Effin’s recent label debut “Take Two,” which drew support from Illenium, Deathpact, NGHTMRE, SLANDER, Doctor P, CRaymak, and more.

Denver-based producer Mersiv has become an immovable force in the dance music community with his signature sound, which has been dubbed as “pretty loud dark” bass music. Known for fusing emotive soundscapes with jaw-dropping sound design, his music has been championed by Zeds Dead, HEYZ, Liquid Stranger, Benzi, UKF, and more. He is fresh off of festival appearances at EDC Las Vegas and Forbidden Kingdom, and has upcoming shows at Lollapalooza, FVDED In The Park, Dancefestopia, and his own Stonehenge show at the Caverns.

Belong To Me” bridges the gap between nostalgic allure and futuristic wonder, landing in a sweet spot that bass heads won’t be able to get enough of.

CULTURE CODE, CHPTR., AND KENAJ UNITE ON FORLORN MELODIC BASS COLLAB "FAR AWAY" FT. UNDY ON HEAVEN SENT

The three producers unite to create a trifecta of stirring melodic bass with their orchestral-fueled collab.

Melodic heavyweights Culture Code team up with fast-rising talents CHPTR. and Kenaj for their new triple-pronged collab. “Far Away” features the spellbinding vocals of lauded topliner UNDY, and arrives as the latest offering from SLANDER’s ever-impressive Heaven Sent label.

With its creators spread out across the globe, interestingly enough, “Far Away” describes the damage that distance can do to a relationship. UK’s Culture Code comes together with Germany’s CHPTR. and Kenaj to delve into the emotional turmoil of a love that’s waxing cold and distant. New York-based singer/songwriter UNDY brings the subject matter to the fore with her heartfelt vocal performance, shifting from emotive croons to powerful belting. The  production matches the swelling intensity, graduallying building around symphonic strings, somber piano keys, and sweeping synth drops, which escalate into its sweeping, arpeggiated climax.

CHPTR. breaks down the meaning of the single, saying “This track is an expression of the power of love and the inevitability of change. Even when we grow apart, the love remains—a beautiful, haunting echo of what once was.”

On the other hand, Kenaj focuses on the production appeal of the collab, stating “This track is for all the people who like big, fat, melodic bass sounds.”

Culture Code is the brainchild of Chris Bains and Dylan Norton, two seasoned producers from the UK specializing in melody-driven dance music for more than a decade. They caused a tidal wave with their massive “Make Me Move” alongside Karra, with more than 52 million streams to date. Managing to move through a number of melodic-driven genres ever since, the production pair has backed by tastemaking names from the likes of Martin Garrix, the Chainsmokers, Tritotona, Nicky Romero, and more.

Hailing from Germany, CHPTR. is a multi-instrumentalist and up-and-coming producer sitting in the sweet spot between future bass and melodic dubstep. His alias denotes a new beginning, the start of something special in the dance music landscape. Also coming up in the German scene, Kenaj is a producer making a name for himself through a catchy cinematic and wave-infused melodic bass.

UNDY is an emerging vocal talent currently based out of New York City. Originally from Montreal, the classically trained singer has been tapping into her pop and R&B roots to make songs that have landed huge syncs in shows such as ‘Selling Sunset,’ ‘Love Is Blind,’ ‘Love Island,’ and Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man 2’ video game.

A truly touching and beautiful breakup ballad, “Far Away” brings all four talents together to create an orchestral melodic bass single that makes the pain feel palpable.

NIKITA, THE WICKED CONSTRUCTS EERIE, EXPERIMENTAL BASS SINGLE "LIKE ME" ON GUD VIBRATIONS

The California-based producer Unveils a Dark and Enigmatic Single For His Gud Vibrations Label Debut

Emerging producer Nikita, the Wicked exists in a constant state of experimentation, and has been testing the limits of different variations of bass music throughout the last year. He’s set to unleash his latest concoction with “LIKE ME,” serving as his debut outing on NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s acclaimed Gud Vibrations label.

Eerie and off-kilter in the best possible sense, his new single “LIKE ME” struts confidently down its own unique lane. The slow-burning trap beat is a no-frills affair, with each minimalistic layer oozing with ominous intent. A puffed-up vocal flaunts its intrinsic value, sitting in the pocket of the track’s cavernous sound design. Sinister violin strings add a layer of cinematic drama, while the deep basslines and intricate percussive elements drive the track forward, creating an immersive, haunting bass cut that packs a masterful blend of tension and release.

Nikita, the Wicked explains how the lyrics speak to his own confidence with where his musicianship is currently oscillating, saying: “I believe this track perfectly describes how I’m feeling at this point in my artistic career. With the lyrics being ‘you could never find somebody who does it like me.’ Especially after coming off my EP release, I have never been more confident in my sound and the direction I’m moving in. I’m just playing my part in the new direction of high-energy bass music. Dance music needed a villain, and I picked up the call."

Based out of San Francisco, Nikita, the Wicked is a bass music producer who’s hellbent on seeking out the beauty in darkness everywhere, pairing his surrealist visuals with weird, unconventional sounds of all shapes and forms. His innovative approach to bass music was showcased on his 6-track ‘iloveitwhentheyrun’ EP, his first body of work following a string of forward-thinking singles since 2020. He’s pumped out collaborations with notable artists such as Eyezic, Fabian Mazur, and Conrad, as well as remixes by prominent figures like Dabin and Sunday Scaries. Additionally, he has received radio support from industry heavyweights including San Holo, Illenium, Alison Wonderland, and Steve Cardigan.

A menace to society, Nikita, the Wicked sets another stepping stone with “LIKE ME” on his path toward total domination.
