PARQUE FUNDIDORA IN MONTERREY 

56 artists, 14 B2Bs and four Mexican premieres will mark the festival’s first edition outside Europe. Born in Turin, FUTUR FESTIVAL will bring to Monterrey a vision built around music, club culture and creative freedom.

On November 13 and 14, Parque Fundidora will host FuturFestival’s first edition outside Europe. Born in Turin in 2009, the festival has for years been recognized by specialized media, industry experts and international rankings as one of the 10 most important electronic music festivals in the world. 

The festival’s arrival in Mexico represents much more than a new date on the international festival calendar. It marks the meeting of two cities — and two spaces — that share a unique history: Parco Dora in Turin and Parque Fundidora in Monterrey. Both former industrial sites that have found a second life as spaces for culture, connection and new generations, the shared history makes Fundidora a natural setting for FuturFestival to begin its next chapter.

The first Mexican edition will bring together 56 artists, 14 B2Bs and four Mexican premieres, creating a lineup that connects different generations and scenes within electronic music.

Artists who have helped shape the history of the genre — including Carl Craig, Moodymann, Dixon, Âme, Damian Lazarus, Maceo Plex, Tiga, Skream, FJAAK and Vintage Culture — will share the stage with artists currently taking club culture into new territories, including Diplo, Paco Osuna, DJ Holographic, Echonomist, Marie Montexier, Cloonee, KI/KI and Lilly Palmer.

More than a collection of names, the lineup offers a journey through the different eras, geographies and sounds that have shaped contemporary electronic music.

B2Bs are one of FUTUR FESTIVAL’s defining signatures, and Monterrey will feature pairings including Carl Craig b2b Moodymann, Âme DJ b2b Marcel Dettmann, Maceo Plex b2b Tiga, Dennis Cruz b2b DJ Tennis and Francis Mercier b2b Mahmut Orhan, alongside Adiel b2b Quest, Airrica b2b Yulia Niko, ANNA b2b Deer Jade, Iñigo Vontier b2b Paurro, Jackson b2b Lilya Mandre and Massano b2b Volkoder.

Four experiences will make their Mexican premiere: Carl Craig b2b Moodymann, Adiel b2b Quest, DJ Holographic and STOOR Live.

The program is further expanded by live projects from AAAA, Metrika and Opuntia, as well as STOOR Live featuring JakoJako, Mathew Jonson and Speedy J — bringing improvisation, hardware, technology and sonic experimentation into the festival experience.

The festival’s arrival in Mexico is further supported by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, strengthening the relationship between the two countries through music, creative industries, innovation, investment and entertainment.

This story also includes a partnership with Nat5, bringing a regenerative environmental model into the festival experience. Through this initiative, a percentage of every ticket sold will be allocated to nature regeneration projects, supported by mechanisms designed to track and measure the resulting impact.

FUTURFESTIVAL MÉXICO arrives in Monterrey with a story built over years, a program that brings together different generations of artists, and a vision connecting music, culture, innovation and regeneration.

On November 13 and 14, Parque Fundidora will become the meeting point.

THE TWO-PART PROJECT ARRIVES AFTER ‘I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY’ 

AND EXPANDS THE DEEPLY HUMAN STORY BEHIND THE EP's UKRAINIAN COLLABORATIONS

Following the release of his new EP, I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY, Australian electronic music pioneer What So Not unveils a new short documentary and full rooftop performance filmed during a recent creative trip to Kyiv alongside acclaimed Ukrainian artist Alina Pash.

More than a performance film, the two-part project documents Ukraine's creative community and the artists continuing to make music despite the realities of war. Filmed during a period of intensified aerial attacks on Kyiv, the documentary offers an intimate look inside the city's music scene through the eyes of those determined to keep creating, collaborating, and preserving their culture under extraordinary circumstances.

The journey begins as What So Not returns to Ukraine to continue his creative work with Alina Pash following their collaborations on "EVEREST," "Candy Flipping," and "Don't Wanna Leave Yet". During the trip, he recorded with Ukrainian musicians who remain unable to leave the country because of wartime restrictions, gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of continuing to amplify Ukrainian stories, language, and artistic expression.

The documentary opens on the morning of July 2, 2026, as emergency sirens echo across Kyiv following an overnight wave of attacks on the capital. Against that backdrop, What So Not captures the contrast between uncertainty and everyday life - from studio sessions and preparations for a rooftop performance with Alina Pash to smoke rising in the distance, air raid sirens, and the search for shelter.

Throughout the film, viewers are invited into Kyiv's creative spaces, witnessing studio sessions, conversations, and personal moments that reveal the resilience of the city's artistic community. Rather than centering solely on the circumstances surrounding them, the documentary focuses on the people behind the music and the role creative collaboration can play in preserving humanity during times of uncertainty.

The journey culminates in an intimate rooftop performance overlooking Kyiv, where What So Not and Alina Pash celebrate their shared work against one of the city's most recognizable skylines. More than a traditional live set, the performance becomes a symbol of hope and a reflection of music's ability to connect people across borders.

Shortly after the performance, the documentary captures another night of intensified attacks, offering a stark reminder of the environment in which the project was created.

“I knew this was a possibility coming here. But it’s hard to explain the feeling of seeing it out the window, hearing the sirens, feeling the vibrations of the explosions. The rush to get down to a shelter. The uncertainty. The sleeplessness. Trying to make the most of it with a great group of people who live this every single day. I think in that moment I saw the true beauty of Ukraine - the people, their passion, and their resilience.”

The film provides deeper context for the collaborations featured on I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY, revealing the relationships and experiences that shaped some of the EP's most personal moments. While the project explores themes of transformation, connection, and human experience, the documentary brings audiences into the real-world environments and creative partnerships that inspired the music.

For Alina Pash, the project also serves as an opportunity to continue amplifying Ukrainian voices and sharing the country's creative identity with audiences around the world.

The documentary arrives as many Ukrainian artists continue to face significant barriers to international collaboration. By traveling to Kyiv rather than asking collaborators to leave their home country, What So Not chose to immerse himself in the creative community that inspired the music - documenting not only the songs themselves, but also the people, places, and stories behind them.

The release further expands the philosophy behind I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY, a project rooted in curiosity, connection, and the creative spirit that has long defined electronic music culture. Throughout the EP rollout, What So Not has prioritized authentic collaboration, intimate experiences, and artistic exploration over scale alone.

îLESONIQ WRAPS UP A SPECTACULAR 11TH EDITION!

60,500 FESTIVALGOERS GATHERED FOR AN ELECTRIFYING WEEKEND

îLESONIQ, presented by Bell, turned Parc Jean-Drapeau into a true celebration of electronic music, bringing together 60,500 festivalgoers, 34% of whom came from outside Quebec, over two sun-soaked days. 

The festival’s energy spread far beyond Jean-Drapeau Park starting on Friday evening, when îLESONIQ en ville kicked off the festivities in downtown venues. A series of official afterparties also allowed night owls to keep the party going late into the night on August 8 and 9.

Once again, îLESONIQ brought together some of the biggest names in the international electronic music scene, alongside innovative DJs and producers from all over the world. Spread across three stages, the artists took turns performing throughout the weekend, transporting the crowd from one musical universe to another. Beyond the music, this 11th edition once again brought to life the spirit of PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect), uniting a diverse audience in an inclusive atmosphere where sharing, freedom, and a shared passion were at the forefront.

On Saturday, a little rain certainly didn’t dampen festivalgoers’ spirits. As soon as the gates opened, the site came alive with festivalgoers rocking colorful, bold and distinctive outfits, ready to dance rain or shine. Ponchos or no ponchos, smiles and energy were in abundance!

It didn’t take long for bass music fans to make their presence felt. By 3 p.m., IZZY VADIM was already drawing an impressive crowd to the Coca-Cola NEON stage, where headbangers went wild to the sounds of the Montreal EDM artist. JKYL & HYDE then emerged on the same stage as one of the day’s standout discoveries for many, thanks in part to their musical selections. LYNY, making his Montreal debut, received a roaring welcome, with fans singing along to his tracks. Later, LAYZ and Kompany took the intensity up another notch with an electrifying B2B: moshpits, headbanging and fans moving almost in unison from start to finish. The bass community was definitely out in full force!

The artists also found plenty of ways to show Montreal some love. ATLiens traded in their signature extraterrestrial look for Montreal Canadiens gear as they closed out the Coca-Cola NEON stage. Making his second appearance at îLESONIQ, deadmau5 also paid tribute to the city, bringing the Bell OASIS stage to life with his remix of Angine de Poitrine’s “Fabienk,” a nod that was warmly received by the Montreal crowd. Earlier on the same stage, Sub Focus thrilled drum and bass enthusiasts with an energetic set infused with pop hits, creating one of the day’s standout crowd-pleasing moments.

The chemistry between Tiga and Boys Noize, longtime friends and collaborators, was undeniable as they came together for an exclusive B2B at îLESONIQ on the MIRAGE stage. Later, Boris Brejcha made his highly anticipated festival debut with his signature high-tech minimal sound. With a dark, theatrical universe and mesmerizing sound design, the German artist immersed Parc Jean-Drapeau in a captivating atmosphere, bringing the MIRAGE lineup to a spectacular close.

On the Bell OASIS stage, Crankdat brought a heavy dose of bass to the main stage, drawing headbangers well beyond their usual stomping grounds. From the front row to the back of the crowd, the energy was at an all-time high as festivalgoers were swept up in a powerful set packed with hard-hitting and unexpected remixes. To close out the first night on the main stage, Chris Lake & Friends had one final surprise in store for festivalgoers. Also celebrating his birthday, Chris Lake showed Montreal some love by wearing a Canadiens jersey before revealing the identity of his secret guests. Midway through his performance, Odd Mob, Chris Lorenzo and MPH joined him behind the decks for an unexpected and electrifying B4B, capping off a day filled with surprises.

On Sunday, the second day of îLESONIQ came alive with an explosive mix of sounds, styles and festival energy. Despite the heat, festivalgoers, dressed in colorful, coordinated outfits, returned to Parc Jean-Drapeau ready to make the most of every moment. From exciting discoveries and Montreal debuts to the return of festival favourites, the day delivered one memorable performance after another, right up to the very last note.

On the MIRAGE stage, Montreal artist KATTANA made a striking îLESONIQ debut, drawing a large crowd eager to support the local talent. Stoog3s To Death, the B2B bringing together Stoned to Death (Stoned Level and Muerte) and Stoog3s (Hamro, Squishi and Blvnkface), also made its mark with a successful world premiere. Meanwhile, Hedex made his highly anticipated Montreal debut, bringing the hard-hitting sounds of jump up to îLESONIQ.

Later that day, LEVEL UP B2B INFEKT delivered a completely wild performance, reminding everyone why both artists have become beloved îLESONIQ regulars. Wooli then cemented his status as a major force in the bass scene. Between moshpits and his undeniable connection with Montreal fans, the artist even sent his massive mascot crowd-surfing! To close out the MIRAGE stage, Seven Lions brought a touch of nostalgia by inviting Dabin, who had performed on the same stage earlier in the day, to join him for their classic “First Time.” The reunion was an instant hit!

On the Coca-Cola NEON stage, NOVAH showed exactly why her name continues to generate so much buzz. The intensity climbed even higher with performances by KI/KI and ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, each drawing festivalgoers into their own high-energy world. Holy Priest then took over to close out the stage with an explosive set, capping off a day that showcased the musical diversity of this year’s edition.

On the Bell OASIS stage, HAYLA stole the show with her breathtaking voice and remarkable stage presence. Clearly delighted to be performing at îLESONIQ, the British singer, known in part for her collaborations with John Summit, delivered a performance that was as powerful as it was captivating.

To cap off the weekend, Dom Dolla returned to the festival for his second appearance, taking over the Bell OASIS stage to close out the 11th edition of îLESONIQ. Clearly happy to be back in Montreal, the Australian artist showed his appreciation for the Montreal audience, calling it one of the best in the world. He kept Parc Jean-Drapeau dancing until the festival’s final notes, as fireworks lit up the sky and brought the weekend to a euphoric close.
