INDEPENDENT LABEL FUTURE HOUSE MUSIC MARKS ITS 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH RELEASE OF DOCUMENTARY MOVIE

Future House Music (FHM), one of the most prolific independent labels in electronic music, is celebrating a decade of redefining the EDM-house music scene. To highlight its 10-year existence on the market, it just publicly released a highly anticipated documentary movie on its YouTube channel, offering fans an intimate look at its journey from humble beginnings to global acclaim. What began in 2014 as a small Facebook fan page for future house music lovers quickly gained traction, becoming a vibrant hub where fans and artists, including industry greats, exchanged ideas and shared tracks. The following year, Future House Music took a bold step by signing its first record, a single from Jonas Aden, officially launching its operations as a record label, which over time released the music from the likes of Brooks, Wankelmut, Skytech, Tobtok, Sikdope, Sevenn, Redondo, Tom Westy, and way more. Growth accelerated in 2016, when FHM opened its first office in Rotterdam and began building a dedicated team - though not without challenges. "We had no idea how to hire or lead a team at first," recalls Aart van den Dool, FHM's co-founder and music director "It was a steep learning curve, but it taught us the importance of surrounding ourselves with the right people." The label's innovative spirit carried it to new heights: hosting its first festival stage at We Are Electric in 2017, achieving its first viral hit with "Brass" in 2018, and reaching 1 million YouTube subscribers during a milestone event in London in 2019. These successes were accompanied by struggles, including navigating copyright issues on YouTube and label releases and grappling with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which stifled their ability to release club-focused music or host live events. Despite these hurdles, FHM has remained committed to its core values of supporting raw talent and building a community. Landmark achievements, like launching their Future House Music Awards in 2020 and debuting official merch in 2021, solidified their connection with fans. By 2022, the label ranked as the 6th most supported record label worldwide among DJs on 1001tracklists, and in 2023, FHM expanded globally with showcases, which so far took place in Japan, USA, Malaysia, Germany, UK, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Estonia, and The Netherlands. The documentary, which had its theatre premiere earlier this year at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), is a celebration of these milestones and more. It recounts the challenges, triumphs, and relentless drive that propelled FHM to the forefront of the industry.

"When we started FHM, we had big dreams but limited resources. We kept believing in future house, which was still a niche genre back in 2014. Within our first year, it became clear that we weren't alone in our passion. Enthusiasm for this fresh wave of house music surged which resulted in exponential growth of the brand. In the following years, we've created a community where we try to do things differently by putting artists first and where artists feel valued, and we still pursue this mission with our team daily. That commitment drives everything we do and is why I'm so proud of what we've created together." - Aart van den Dool, Co-Founder & Music Director

"Over the past ten years, Aart and I have had an amazing experience creating Future House Music. Discover in this documentary how we met, how it all started, the events that molded our vision, and the obstacles we faced along the way. It's a tale of enthusiasm, teamwork, and an unwavering determination to develop potential and push limits. In addition to sharing our history, we're very pleased to offer a look into FHM's past, present & future as well as interviews with artists & industry professionals. This is not just a celebration, it's a demonstration of what can be accomplished when people work together." - Gino van Eijk, Co-Founder & Strategic Director

Future House Music is a pioneering independent record label at the forefront of the global house music scene, driven by a passion for shaping the sounds and stars of the future. Born from a vibrant online community, FHM remains committed to its fanbase and people-centric values, connecting millions of house music lovers worldwide through quality-driven releases and meaningful engagement. By prioritizing an "artist-first" approach and fostering innovation, FHM supports emerging talent, curates top-shelf records, and delivers unforgettable live experiences at international club and festival events. With an active Discord community, a thriving YouTube presence, and the Future House Music Awards, FHM has built a reputation for nurturing a strong community while pushing the boundaries of digital music culture.
