AZZECCA LAUNCHES HER NEW PARTY BRAND ‘COSIMEA’

‘An exploration of forward thinking and other-worldly club sounds’

An ARC Music Festival afterparty, Smartbar Chicago, August 30th

Plus her cosmic vibe Mindchatter remix out now

Chicago’s high-energy, acid/dark dance DJ/producer Azzecca launches her new party brand ‘Cosimea’ into the electronic world in the form of an ARC Music Festival Chicago afterparty on August 30th at the iconic Smartbar (previous residents inc. Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter, The Blessed Madonna). This will be Azzecca’s third year playing at ARC in her home town, so it’s the ideal venue for the first Cosimea party, which takes the place of her Dirty Disco series in Chicago, with guests Salute and X CLUB..

Both sound- and artist-wise, Cosimea will spotlight the ‘slightly left of centre, cosmic vibe’ which is newly hitting dancefloors. Crucially, the new brand keeps and expands the ethos of her previous much-loved, female-safety-focused global event series ‘Dirty Disco’, providing inclusivity and safe spaces for all communities to enjoy cosmic sounds and hot emerging talent.

Tastemakers’ favourite Azzecca, with strong support inc. BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Danny Howard, Sarah Story, Arielle Free, and shows at Coachella, Movement Festival, Elsewhere Brooklyn, Radio 1 Ibiza as well as ARC, keeps conquering new worlds of success after a rocket of a career blast-off, releasing on DGTL, Kompakt, Maccabi House, Higher Ground, and now…

Azzecca’s new remix of Mindchatter’s ‘Corporate Shakespeare’ just dropped on ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective in partnership with Ninja Tune on July 25th. Azzecca says she ‘really leaned into that cosmic sound with this’, taking the original’s quirkily enjoyable robotic, fuzzily distorted, love-child of Kraftwerk and Devo with vocals by HAL (‘2001’), and making it club-ready. The beings in her ‘other world’ clearly like raving as much as we do, with a punchy, much faster, stronger beat/bass, the distorted melodies having a flavour of her acid-drop recent singles, and the mechanised vocals now asking ‘do you have the bandwidth’ in the breakdowns. Yes, we do.

Says Azzecca: ‘Although I owned the Dirty Disco name and trademark, a collective in Texas who’d previously used the name asked me for the use of it, and out of a love and respect for queer spaces in dance music, I was more than happy to hand over the trademark to allow them to grow and flourish. Now I am more than looking forward to the future, as I’ve taken this opportunity and time with my team to create a new project that feels like a true extension of the Azzecca brand. ‘Cosimea’ will grow to be much, much more than an event series.’

* Cosimea at Smartbar: tickets will go on sale at 12PM CT on Wednesday July 31st exclusively to ARC pass holders.

SARA LANDRY TO MAKE HISTORY AS FIRST HARD TECHNO ARTIST ON TOMORROWLAND MAINSTAGE

A sonic alchemist transforming hard techno sounds into transcendent experiences, Sara Landry is an explosive force captivating global obsession and overhauling the scene through her deliberate, driving and witchy lens.

Harnessing a distinct brand of artistry that is unapologetically her own, the self-taught DJ, producer and record label head has cemented herself as one of the most in-demand names in music at nothing short of breakneck speed. The phenomenon’s visceral sound and unbridled authenticity have earned her a cult-like following,  amassing over 1 Million monthly listeners on Spotify and selling out some of the world’s most prestigious stages with unprecedented fervor)

Performing Tomorrowland Mainstage - previously dominated by bigroom and mainstream electronic music -  signals the next boundary breaking feat for the dynamite artist. On July 27 at 16:15, the hard tecno phenomenon will etch her name in history; setting new precedents, pushing the sound on an international scale and leaving an indelible mark on the industry as a whole.

Converging the underground and the avant garde, the phenomenon’s high-octane auditory expression is one of unrelenting duality, deeply rooted innovation and intention. Hailed as the “High Priestess of Hard Techno”, each of Landry’s thunderous productions reveal ceremonial spaces amongst the highest of frequencies as she balances rebellious experimentation with ancient power. This masterful interplay of chaos and solace guides listeners on enthralling odysseys that are inherently ritualistic, opening a portal for loyal fans and new audiences alike to surrender themselves to her recesses.

In 2023, the multi-hyphenate showcased her impressive talent during her debut Boiler Room set - which went VIRAL, amassing over 6 Million views - and remains the 3rd highest streamed set (after Fred Again.. and Chase & Status).  One of hard techno’s highest ticket sellers, Landry is on a meteoric trajectory blazing forward with unstoppable momentum. With a steady pulse of new music releases, a debut album on the horizon and surprises that promise to captivate her fans and attract millions more, 2024 is poised to be one of Landry’s most massive years yet.
