GERMAN EVENT ENTREPRENEUR BERND BREITER RECEIVES 'LEGENDS OF AVIATION' AWARD IN HOLLYWOOD

PREVIOUS WINNERS HAVE INCLUDED LUMINARIES AND SUPERSTARS SUCH AS JEFF BEZOS, SIR RICHARD BRANSON, ELON MUSK, NEIL ARMSTRONG, JOHN TRAVOLTA, TOM CRUISE, HARRISON FORD, MORGAN FREEMAN AND ANGELINA JOLIE

On January 21, 2022, the 19th Living Legends of Aviation Awards were presented at the Beverley Hilton Hotel in Beverley Hills, California. One of this year’s most prestigious aerospace industry award winners was German event entrepreneur Bernd Breiter from Frankfurt, who received the honor in the category of "Legends of Humanitarian Recognition Award“. The BigCityBeats CEO and founder of the worldwide WORLD CLUB DOME festivals thus joins an illustrious group that includes Sir Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Neil Armstrong, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, and Angelina Jolie, all of whom are previous winners of the "Living Legends of Aviation“ awards.

The Living Legends of Aviation is an accolade that recognizes excellence in the aerospace industry across multiple categories. The award has been presented annually since 2007 by the Kiddie Hawk Air Academy, a non-profit organization, while the award jury consists of former award winners. The "Living Legends“ have all made significant contributions to many areas of aviation including innovators, record-breakers, astronauts, aeronautical entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and famous pilots.

Bernd Breiter received the award for his achievements through his humanitarian work. In his visionary projects with the European Space Agency (ESA), he combines science and entertainment in order to inspire young people to pursue a life in science while raising awareness for important humanitarian issues.

Among other things he built the first club in zero gravity, transformed cruise ships into floating super clubs, airplanes into dance floors, and in 2019 sent the ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano, who undertook training as a DJ, to the ISS, from where he played a DJ set and broadcast it back to earth. For the main stage at BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Festival in Frankfurt, Breiter had a faithful 28 meter high Ariane rocket built.

His latest project the "BigCityBeats – Space Club Kitchen“, has been developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) to stimulate public interest in space exploration. It is the "biggest club music dinner event in the history of mankind“ and on March 19, 2022, will take place simultaneously in orbit on the International Space Station ISS and at countless unique events around the world. The space-suitable Indonesian goulash ("Rendang“), developed for space by superstar TV chef Tim Mälzer in cooperation with LSG Sky Chefs, will be prepared by ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer on the ISS and will also be cooked by millions of people around the world at the same time. At dinner, the astronaut will even mix a unique DJ set using an iPad, broadcast to 50 dinner events taking place on Earth. During these special events, a star chef and headline DJ will spoil the illustrious guests in aid of a charitable good cause. The events are also the launchpad for Breiter’s "One Billion Meals From Outer Space“ Foundation, whose goal is to raise 1 billion food donations for charities around the world.

Bernd Breiter, CEO of BigCityBeats and creator of the WORLD CLUB DOME festivals received the award from John Travolta. "When entertainment meets science, we can help inspire people's fascination in scientific topics. We want to use the powerful focus of entertainment to help show people the importance of science. We create experience-orientated spaces and connections between different worlds, to help inspire young people’s interest in the concept of science and space travel.“
