“First, I’d like to say that when I write songs, I write them through the perspective of a character I made up and she is a superhero. It’s nice because I can separate myself and the words that I write that really only describe a snapshot of emotions but don’t describe me over a long period of time. With that said, below is told in the “I” from the superhero’s voice.
BURN IT DOWN is about my personal discovery and awakening. An awakening from a drop of truth that has permeated my mind bringing me to the ripple that unveils the most raw and honest nerve in my body. I’ve become an internal burning flame that cleanses my soul of tired conditions and false beliefs of myself and the world. Through this ecdysis and growth I feel fierce and outraged that our systems have led us astray and betrayed all of us. This is my notion to start over and raise the stakes to reach a greater good and work toward living a life that is free and if not free, a life of peace.”
