LAROZ TEAMS UP WITH BEMET ON STUNNING NEW SINGLE ‘SEGU TONJON’ FT. BASSEKOU KOUYATÉ

Out Now Via Connected

Following the success of his collaborative single ‘Uma Ya Ye’ alongside Niv Ast on Sincopat just a few weeks ago, one of dance music’s most authentic voices, Laroz, marks his debut release on Connected with another stunning collaboration, this time alongside Lisbon-based producer, Bemet. Featuring the blissful vocal talents of Bassekou Kouyaté, ‘Segu Tonjon’ is primed for both the dancefloor and at-home listening spaces, reflecting three artists who are at the forefront of tribal-influenced dance music.

The sublime ‘Segu Tonjon’ is a rich tapestry of Afro drums and melodies that transports listeners to a vibrant auditory landscape. Intricate percussive elements infuse the music with vivid colors, creating dynamic and immersive rolling grooves. Bassekou Kouyaté's expressive vocals are a standout feature, imbuing each track with a profound sense of spirituality and depth. Complementing these elements are the soft focus melodies that weave through the soundscape, accompanied by the natural ambiance of jungle bird calls and organic hits. Together, these components blend seamlessly to produce a warming, soul-drenched sound that resonates deeply and lingers in the listener's mind.

With a career marked by a deep understanding and exploration of diverse musical genres, Laroz has established himself as a trailblazer in the electronic music world. His music seamlessly blends contemporary tech house, deep house, and dance club music with the evocative sounds of his Mediterranean roots. Laroz's extensive discography includes releases on esteemed labels such as Diynamic, Sol Selectas, Selador, Exploited, Frau Blau and his own imprints, Man House and Camel Riders. His unique sound has earned him a place among the top echelons of the music industry, with tracks frequently appearing on Beatport's Techno and Progressive House charts and being played by renowned DJs like DJ Solumun, Acid Pauli, and Unders.

Bemet, an artist recognized on Forbes' influential 30 Promising Youngsters of 2020 list, brings his prodigious talent and innovative spirit to this collaboration. A former precocious jazz talent and a GRAMMY nominee, Bemet graduated from Berklee College of Music and now commands a revered live show, performing at prestigious venues like Cercle Music and ADE. His recent minimal house album, ‘Lobster,’ released on Chez Damier's H24 label in August 2022, showcased his evolving style and musical versatility.

BEN KANG RELEASES KOREAN PSYTRANCE/TECHNOALPHABET SONG ‘GANADARA’ AND MV FROM KOREA

After releasing remixes of popular k-pop groups 2NE1, Aespa and Le Sserafim, Korean American DJ and producer Ben Kang releases his debut original release with ‘GANADARA’. The track is his first featuring his own original vocals, which recite the Korean alphabet Hangul. The lyrics are accompanied by a 143 BPM driving techno bassline and the choruses explode in alarm-like synth blasts, bass stabs and D&B breaks.

The artwork showcases early ancient forms of Korean writing and the music video showcases him wearing a hanbok, the traditional clothing of the earliest Koreans. The MV captures Ben doing cheeky dances and comedic public performances at various historic sites in Seoul including Gwanghwamun, the Sejong the Great Statue, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village. The song releases on the day he’ll be opening for Sabai’s album release party at Bardot and a week before his debut performance at Academy for the K-pop/EDM event series Electrik Seoul.

Artist and producer Ben Kang lives at the intersection between genres, ethnicities and mediums. His sound combines hard hitting house, techno and bass music with golden age all the way to modern 4th gen K-pop. Blending dance, comedy and culture, his background has led him to bring together the depth and beauty of K-culture with the energy and excitement of the US dance music scene. Ben Kang has performed at venues including Avant Gardner in Brooklyn, the historic Hollywood Palladium and Catch One in LA and soon the Midway in SF for BTO’s festival in August. He’s been supported by acts like Manila Killa at Insomniac’s first K-pop EDM event Electrik Seoul and publications like Dancing Astronaut and EDM.com. MADDY O’NEAL TAPS GRIZ-COLLABORATOR PROBCAUSE FOR “LOCKED IN,” THE LEAD SINGLE OFF HER FORTHCOMING LP VITAL SIGNS

“Locked In” releases ahead of the soulful bass queen’s momentous direct support slot for REZZ at Red Rocks

‘Locked In’ seemed to be the appropriate first single for the new record. I teamed up with one of my oldest friends in the industry, ProbCause, for this banger, and it felt like a full circle moment. The feel and sound design choices are reminiscent of the old school dubstep I came up listening to. Lyrically, there's a line in the track that really sums up the song’s themes, "Did the whole thing my way/Lighters up if u down with me/Independent from the underground/ Got my days ones all proud of me.” To make a track like this with a buddy of mine who has witnessed my entire journey, where we’ve been rooting each other on every step of the way, was pretty special.- Maddy O’Neal

‘Locked In’ was such a fun tune to make. Maddy and I have both been grinding alongside each other for years, and to come together at this moment in our careers feels really special.- ProbCause

Following her electrifying performances at Ultra Music Festival, Lightning In A Bottle and Electric Forest, and ahead of her direct support slot at REZZ’s upcoming Red Rocks show, Denver-based electro-soul luminary Maddy O'Neal is charting a course for nonstop growth.

Throughout her illustrious career, O’Neal has carved her own lane in the dance music scene with her magnetic soulful bass stylings, and hypnotic, hybrid DJ/drum pad live performances - a musical identity that’s led her to perform at renowned festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and more.

In addition to playing these world-class events, O’Neal has embarked on tours and collaborative endeavors with esteemed artists such as Pretty Lights, CloZee, Big Gigantic, and The Floozies. Through her triumphant journey, she has cultivated a devoted fanbase enchanted by her seamless fusion of shimmering, melodic electro-soul with infectious funky rhythms and gripping, synth-driven basslines.

Now, following the release of her collaborative single “Come For You” alongside Defunk, O’Neal is revving toward her next full-length album, VITAL SIGNS. Centered around themes of personal evolution - and navigating the emotional waves that come with a changing interior and exterior world - VITAL SIGNS will see O’Neal explore a bevy of genres, and forge her artistic throughline within a wide swath of soundscapes.

Today, fans get their first taste of VITAL SIGNS with the LP’s lead single, “Locked In,” a collaboration with rapper and frequent GRiZ-collaborator ProbCause. Combining old school dubstep aesthetics with smooth flows from ProbCause, “Locked In” is an acute representation of O’Neal’s genre-blending mastery and an apt tone-setter for the worldbuilding of the VITAL SIGNS era.

As long time friends and collaborators, O’Neal and ProbCause meld seamlessly on “Locked In.” Kicking off with a pulsating 80s-style synth bass punctuated by dubstep drum rhythms, the song envelops the listener with layers of futuristic synth arpeggios and background vocal chops. The track builds with a buttery smooth cadence from ProbCause, who spits about his aspirations - and the mental toughness it takes to get there.

Locked In” then drops into a section that appropriately matches its title - a high-impact drop that combines hypnotizing bass wubs, a rotation of drum sounds, and otherworldly sound design into a cacophony of electronic music bliss. In its complete sonic immersion, this central section evokes a sense of heart-pumping motivation - a perfect auditory depiction of the locked in mindset.

Finally, after a stirring verse from ProbCause that illustrates the record’s profound themes, “Locked In” finishes with a powerful drop - a swirling bass concoction that concludes the listening experience with a cathartic climax.

Fans can see O’Neal playing “Locked In” and other VITAL SIGNS tracks on her upcoming tour dates - including her direct support slot for REZZ at Red Rocks this August.
