As the world continues to navigate the devastating effects of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the impact of our actions on this earth has never been so apparent. MAAC, the charity dedicated to raising awareness, funds and ultimately trying to save iconic species via the medium of music, has partnered with the home of electronic music, Beatport to bring music lovers a virtual music marathon this Saturday 16th May, whilst raising global awareness and critical funds for wildlife conservation work.

The world as we know it is in crisis and cannot afford another pandemic to occur. In order to prevent future zoonotic disease outbreaks it is essential that we terminate the harmful activities responsible. At the top of the list - along with habitat loss - is the legal and illegal trade, trafficking and consumption of wildlife as meat, medicine, clothing, jewellery and ornaments. Without rapid change, humanity will continue to face the consequences of our inhumane treatment of our planet’s wildlife.

MAAC not only aims to educate, but to garner support from the music community at large, to raise desperately needed funds in order to help facilitate the essential work that is crucial to protecting wildlife, and in turn our planet.

MAAC’s partnership with Beatport will enable them to raise funds for their 2020 initiatives:

1. Rhino monitoring and anti-poaching efforts in Africa. Rhino poaching has dramatically increased in South Africa and Botswana during the lockdown. With no tourists on the ground and therefore less people working in the national parks, poachers can access the conservancies easily and are slaughtering both iconic animals (Rhino and Elephant) as well as the prey species for bushmeat.

2. Continue their Lion protection programme. Funding local tribesmen in Kenyan communities to protect Lions from being killed.

3. Provide essential food and care for Orangutans in Central Kalimantan Borneo during the Pandemic. They will also be building a rehabilitation clinic once they have the funding. The clinic will provide veterinarian services for sick orphaned Orangutans displaced by the palm oil industry.

4. Continue their "demand reduction campaign" to shut down the wildlife trade in China. Inclusive of products and parts. This will not only help stop future viruses from breaking out but also fundamentally save wildlife from extinction.

5. Support the ongoing mission to protect the future of snow leopards in western Nepal - through scientific research into the effects of climate change and community outreach programs to prevent human-wildlife conflict.

Founded by Jonny White of Art Department and longtime friend and founder of Pulse RadioWade Cawood, in collaboration with Tears for Tigers founder Jack Baucher, MAAC have been fundraising through dance music events since their inception in 2017. Their European debut ‘Wild’ event took place at Ushuaïa in 2018 with dance music royalty Black Coffee, Adam Beyer, Ida Engberg, Jamie Jones, Art Department, Bedouin to name a few. With this stellar lineup at one of the world’s most iconic dance music venues, MAAC made their presence known and garnered media attention from all over the globe. In October 2019, they successfully hosted their first art auction at the stunning Sabina Ibiza with world renowned artist Robyn Ward. Combining music and art in order to raise money for endangered animals, MAAC cemented their position as industry trailblazers. With many of their 2020 plans on hold due to the global pandemic, the organisation’s passion is on full display as they bring together some of the industry’s biggest names to continue their much-needed fundraising efforts.

An official statement from Ultra Music Festival

As all of you may have noticed the news was circulating for the cancellation of the Ultra Music Festival. They have issued a state letting the Ultranauts know what are the next steps for Ultra.

Official Notice

Dear Ultranauts,

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that The City of Miami has issued an official directive requiring that the 22nd edition of Ultra Music Festival, originally scheduled for March 20, 21 and 22, 2020 will be postponed to March 26, 27 and 28, 2021. Due to the Florida Governor’s declaration of a public health emergency and Centers of Disease Control and Prevention’s Interim Guidance for COVID-19, it is impossible for the City to provide access to Bayfront Park at this time.

We completely understand how extremely frustrating this is because so many of you are looking forward to coming to Ultra, having already made travel arrangements.

This is, however, an unprecedented issue that is not being taken lightly, and we must continue to defer to the authorities for guidance. Ultimately, there is no higher priority for us than the health, safety and physical well-being of each of you, together with everyone else involved in the production of the event.

We sincerely thank you for your continued loyalty and patience during this difficult time.

All ticket purchasers will be contacted by email on Monday regarding the next steps.

– Team Ultra

Until next year…..

In addition to these new artist announcements, Ultra has also unveiled the day-by-day lineup for the festival’s six stages. The Ultra Main Stage is stacked with genre-crossing performances that range from the hard-hitting sounds of Martin Garrix and Afrojack, and trance offerings from Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren, to sunset sets from Kygo and FISHER, and house stylings from Tchami and Oliver Heldens, capped off by stadium-smashing closing shows from Major LazerDJ Snake and David Guetta, respectively.

The Live Stage will play host to a plethora of dynamic performances, including Grammy award-winning Flume making his Ultra debut while he closes out the entire festival with an avant-garde showcase of drums, synths and a myriad of other instruments. Revered prince of darkness Gesaffelstein will close out the stage on Saturday, marking his first Miami performance since debuting his Vantablack VBx2 live show this spring which creates an illusion of infinite depth and blackness. Friday evening will be rounded out by Zedd presents The Orbit, which will see the three-time Grammy award-winner perform on an LED-backed orbiting structure that revolves on all sides of the producer.

Each night, Carl Cox will close out the festivities; on Friday as a B2B with Maceo Plex, on Saturday as a B3B alongside Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers, and on Sunday as a solo performance. Techno and house heavyweights including Richie HawtinTale of UsAdam Beyer ◻︎ Cirez D, Loco Dice, and Amelie Lens, who will be making her Ultra Music Festival debut, are only a few of many names that comprise the MegaStructure’s massive lineup.

This new stage, nestled perfectly under the palm trees in the heart of Downtown Miami, will capture the vibe and spirit of Resistance Island, and feature performances from the likes of SolardoPan-PotARTBAT, CamelPhatReinier Zonneveld (LIVE) and Matador.
